Review for Tall people - Test Drove a 2014 Black 1LE
This review is purly based on my observations for tall drivers. I am 6 feet 5 inches tall.
Several months ago I test drove a 13 1LE and really liked it alot and posted my comments then. I really wasnt sure how different testing a 14 would be but I really wanted to check out the new Recaro seats. So how was it you say well from the 13 I wasnt expecting much improvement to be honest, but I was suprised, but not as much on the seats. Dont get me wrong I think the Recaro's are BA and will work well but did'nt have any negative feelings with them at all. They felt firm but comfortable and I think a could drive in them all day. I really dont know if I got anymore headroom or not but I was well clear of touching the roof, which was better than the 13 but I think by only less than 1/2 inch. My clearance was about 1.5 to maybe 2 inches. I would have to measure to be sure. The new Recaro seat was suprisingly comfy and had no issues with it even with the side bolsters, so I would deffently go with the Recaro seat option. Now for what was a very plesant surprise, the HUD, yes we all know its now in color but more importantly I think GM made some very big improvments here, as on the 13 SS and 1LE (both same) the HUD ran out of adjustment range for my height. On the 13's with the HUD adusted all the way to the max, part of it, the top I think I couldnt see, so I would have to scooch down in the seat to see the entire display which then made the normal console gagues go wrong plus it wasnt comfortable. The 14 on the other hand I was able to sit normally and the new HUD had extra range so I had nearly the full range to move it. I could adjust it low nearer the dash or go up a couple of inches on the windshield. It would only go out of view at the top of its range, more in the middle of windshield. So GM I am impressed with all the new changes. Over all I still love the 1LE way more than the regular SS for sure. And the 14 is yes a better car than the 13, especially for tall drivers. Love the new front and realy am indifferent to the tail lights, especially since I wont see them very often, ok, if and when I pick one of these bad boys up. I do not like the black as the wrap just doesnt pop the same as on other colors. Also to me it looked like the wrap color has changed as on the black car I test drove the wrap was gray like graphite gray but surely not black as the 13 was and as I've seen before. Oh and if anyone in SoCal is looking for 1LE's the dealer had 2 of them a Black and a Summit White Located in Ontario CA. Last edited by rrpilot; 09-07-2013 at 02:26 PM. Reason: Added pix |

I'm 6.5 too and I have my '13 HUD exactly to where it almost disappears. If I sit up straight, the top gets chopped off.

I'm also 6'4'' and have no problem with the 1SS seats. No problem wearing a helmet on track events too. Just don't order the sunroof.

Actual height isn't the whole picture, it's more which part of your body is "longest" (ie: legs or torso) and your desired seat position.
I'm only 5'11" and I have to recline the seat pretty far to get headroom. If headroom wasn't an issue, I would sit much more upright. Does it affect my feelings about the car, no. But I knew what to expect when I was looking at the car. Anyone considering this type of car also needs to take that into consideration and they need to go and sit in one. |

6'3" with a long torso here. No issues in my 13 1LE, but I wouldn't fit with a sunroof.

Would not fit at all with sunroof equipped models, had to go out of my way to order with no sunroof. No issues now, but slightly worried a helmet will not work as I've yet to try one on in this vehicle. HUD well within range for my torso height, but if I purposely raise myself up in the seat to make the HUD go out of range, it is at that precise point that my head touches the ceiling. The 13 1LE screams for proper lower Recaro seats, it's the one and only thing that made me want a '14 model instead. |

Anybody with big feet have trouble working the pedals? My size 13 feet usually cause me to wear the same pair of shoes every time I drive my '02. The '14 I sat in seemed to have more foot room but I was ordering regardless.

I wear size 13 (that's 47 for any Euro readers here) and have worn on occasion large boots, which is like a size 15-16 running shoe if you think about, and haven't had any issues at all in the footwell department, unlike roof with sunroof.
