Under construction Relocating the XM antenna

Relocating the XM antenna off the roof and in to the car mirror.

First i got a second antenna but you don't need too.

A lot of you know how to remove the antenna i will only post the link at this time,Thanks for making the videos GTAHVIT.

Part 1 http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showpo...0&postcount=51

Part 2 http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showpo...7&postcount=60

You will need to take the Antenna apart so let start You need to take the 4 blk bolts there real small use a T-8 and that takes the fin off the housing.

This is what is inside the fin.

Next there are 6 silver bolts there real small use a T-8 and that takes the antenna of the metal bottom of the fin. same pic but you get it.

Here is one of the hard parts i used that old and handy dremel tool with a cut off blade to cut from one side to the mid way without cutting the wires then i put it in a vice and hit it with a hammer, Here is a pic

And this is all of the antenna.

So that's all for today more to come in the next day or two there are more wires to add and then how to remove the door panel and remove the outside mirror and place the antenna in there.

This is where the antenna will end up.

I must say that I dislike the XM antenna. Now that I know what is involved with removal, it won't be long until it's gone. I only need to find something to plug the hole. I haven't looked around to see what my options are, but the black plug you mention sounds like it would work for me. Is it a custom made part or something available in any parts or hardware store? Thanks.

I'm definitely interested in this one... would look soooo much better without that shark antenna... but will it degrade the quality of the OnStar reception?

With the physical antenna being so small, you'd think they could integrate it into the rear spoiler plastic!
