1 to 4 shift lock out

I was given the 1 4 shift screen on the display, but nothing stops me from shifting to 2nd Is it normal that you can shift to 2nd?

When it says 1-4 Shift in the DIC and I try to shift, it gently slides the shifter over to 4th instead of second when I proceed to shift.

What I've noticed is if you wait a few seconds it will let you shift to 2nd but for the first 5 seconds Or so it locks me out of 2nd

Sometimes it will flash the 1-4 shift on the DIC but I've accelerated out of it and it doesn't lock me out of the shift. Happens periodically. Timing has to be just right and I don't "try" to make it happen. Same thing is happening to you. No worries.

If it consistently lets you shift to 2nd with the message on the display then you must have a skip-shift eliminator under the car.

No, the car is new, so maybe I do not try and shift fast enough. I do not notice the display and never had it keep me out of 2nd.

It's just a timing thing. There are several things that have to happen in order for the whole process to work. It will tell you in your manual. Something like between 1500-1700 rpm, trans oil over 150°, and no more than 15% throttle. So it will start to work but before you shift you break one of those prerequisites and it lets you shift into 2nd. I never see it any more after installing my SLP supercharger and SLP tune. Your cars fine. The lock out is so annoying anyways.

If you wait to shift, and pass through the "zone"...it doesn't stop you from shifting.

I've noticed once or twice on the rare occasations that the 1-4 light comes on, that if I hesitate in neutral for a second or two, I can drop it right into 2nd.

Smile Skip shift eliminator fixes problem

A sure fire way to be safely using your Camaro is get a cheap skip shift eliminator. They work great, do not void warranty since it just plugs in and takes minutes to install. $20 and no problems again! Had one on my 2011 2SS and now it works great on my ZL 1.
