MRP Goes All Concrete

MRP will be the first track in Canada to be all concrete from the start line to 50' pass the finish line. Although work is on going opening day at MRP will be delayed till early May. Second half will be poured soon as weather window presents it self early next week, each pour is 448 cubic meters. Thirty days to cure and a week of track prep and it will be ready to go. Looks like the the new track dragger that JS Motorsports build in our shop last year will be put to good use prepping for opening day.

Man, what a shame. MRP was easily the flattest, stickiest, nicest to run on track I've ever been to.
Now it is even better of course, but what for? The limited shut down length is the problem. And they can't lengthen it because the end of the track is a river. It will never host a top fuel event because of this and the last event I was at a pro mod got hung up in the netting, suspended over the river by it's injector hat.
I'm thinking if they are going through all that trouble then why not move it, first out of the city, lot's of noise complaints now, second, somewhere they can lengthen the shut down.
My 2 cents anyhoo.
MRP is a true jewel. Added to the above is the fact that it gets the best atmoshperic conditions of any track on the planet. -600 feet DA some days. that is why the super stock boys go there to set records. It will be even better now, but that shutdown is a doozy.

You sure you got your facts straight? MRP has a long shutdown by today's standards a whole 1/4 mile plus. Any car that has ended in the sand trap did so due to brake or chute issues or both. Buddy get your facts straight before you slag our track.

Further on that note our 2750 pound Pro Mod goes mid 240's on a regular basis at MRP and stops with plenty of room to spare even when only 1 of 2 chutes don't fully deploy, which happens on occasion.

Actually it's a broom finish, but once we drag the hell out of it and lay down some rubber, it will be smooth as a babies behind.

And therein lies the problem. 1/4 mile is way too short by any standards. Shutdown should be 1/2 to 3/4 mile. No one wants to end up in the Fraser river on a chute failure.

It's 4000' from the finsh line to the sandtrap, I checked. So that's 3/4 of a mile shutdown, so is your negative comment still justifed, I think not.

Wow, this is interesting. Didn't know that they were improving the track. Hope to get out this year. Didn't attend once last year:( My co-pilot is planning to give it a try. She's concerned that the concrete might be a issue?

Nope. I can practically coast to a stop. I've only run there twice but both times there was conversation about the fact that there was a river at the end of the track. And that's why the top fuel boys won't go there, that is all I'm saying.
