In 1969, Chevy assembled 20,302 Z/28s. With attrition over the years, and now cloning, there are only approximately 50,000 remaining.

VINs on '69 Chevs did NOT clearly state what engine (and therefore what possible packages) their vehicles left the factory with. Today's 17-digit VIN (instituted 30-some years ago) takes care of that little problem. The "Engine" field is readily known and identifiable.

Here's an article that just came out about those parts shown at SEMA. Look at the times put down by the cars. Z/28 was still 3 seconds faster.

Look, I am a very happy SS owner and I was way interested in some of the Z parts (CAI and exhaust manifolds) if they did not void warranty and made nice gains.

They fail on both ends, as per GM usual.

There is simply nothing, not one thing, like a Camaro Z/28 IMO. The true pinnacle of Chevy performance, I know all the history and the Z/28 eats them all.

None of these parts make another car a Z/28. Born and made, you all have the VIN#, they are special models and I really do wish I could have went all out even though I would never, could never, drive the car to it's full potential.

I guess I am saying, no worries. Not many will buy the add on parts (cost) and even if they do no idiot would think they are getting a Z/28 for $25k on a lot.

Add the brakes/rotors and badges to that list..
It's been well known from day 1 that GM was going to allow some of the performance parts from the Z/28 to be sold. Most are parts that you can already buy and not necessarily Z/28 specific.

A Z/28 is still a Z/28 and any "clones" would be easily recognizable.

Good luck cloning that PTM and its calibration specific to all the parts working together. Oh, not to metion the LS7 and drysump oiling with added engine oil cooling. I still cant find the lighter battery too and rear seat parts, let alone the option to buy those amazing brakes, the booster tune for them and those amazing wheels.

Nicely stated; that sums it up for me. The Z/28 is an amazing car that I never expected GM to build. I'm glad most of the parts are available to all, but you can't really build your own Z/28. This is a car that people will look back on as a high-water mark and one of the last true "dinosaurs" -- with rear-wheel drive, a 7.0 liter normally-aspirated V-8 engine, and a 6-speed manual transmission. These ARE the good old days...

How about the part number for the dolly's the hold the car on it's side? That would be helpful for modding and detailing.

It's so much better to have factory engineered parts, developed on the Nordschleife. This is a win/win...
Very well said sir!
