Ok Jeff, I have a 2012 LS3 with about 1000 on the ODO. At about 600 I noticed that when ever I turned the ac on and the engine was good and warm the engine sounds like its vibrating and rattling real bad. I rarely take it passed 3k rpm and never over 4900. I'm easy with my baby.
I use 93 octane from texaco, shell, or chevron. Any tips before I take it to the dealership and they try to give me the run around???

Allow me to elaborate that it starts to vibrate and rattle when I get to 3k rpm.

Try starting your own thread, your topic has nothing to do with this thread....AC belt squeal.

The best thing to do is have them to perform a proper diagnosis. After this, please let me know what they were able to do for you.

Just took my 2012 supercharged LS3 in for the first oil change and they told me the AC belt was split down the middle and needed to be changed (they wanted $192 to do it). My question is, did they have to take this belt on/off to add the supercharger? Or would this be covered under warranty?

Yes they most likely would have. Even if they didnt they would have claimed the extra power of the supercharger caused it.

You lost your powertrain warranty so its definately out of pocket from here on out. (powertrain wise)

Thanks for your answer, Tim. That's what I was guessing, but wanted to verify.

I had a problem with mine twice. Belt was fraying on the front side. I had the belt changed then it did it again so the dealer replaced the AC Pully and clutch. It's happened a third time and the dealer said the AC compressor housing was machined improperly so they replaced it. No problem since. That was about 6000 miles ago.

Same here the dealer put new belt on and it was split again just after driving it home. Taking it back next week.

My AC drive belt just did the exact thing the OP described. More of a nuisance, should have bought something else i guess.

After 9500 miles, I started hearing the squeak in the video from post #15 in this thread. I thought it was coming from the main idler pulley so I took off the main belt, started the car, but the squeak continued.

I then looked at the a/c belt and realized it was riding outward on the crank pulley by one groove. I used a socket on the crank pulley and turned the engine clockwise while applying pressure towards the engine and was able to get the a/c belt realigned.

No more squeak!!!

We will see how long it lasts. If it happens again, I will be taking it to the dealer.

Mine started about 18k miles and it finally got to the point where it sounded like an exhaust leak at 19K. I found that it was split between ribs ranging from 1/2" to 3" in about 5 different places. Dealer replaced it last week under warranty.

That's great to hear that your dealership found the issue. Please let us know if you have any future concerns.
