I've had this same problem 3 times on my 2011 SS. Dealer paid for the first 2, the 3rd I was responsible for. Well it happened again . So I ordered a gates belt with the tool and did it myself. Well its been 6 months and belt is still on.

Where did you get the tool to roll the belt on?

If I'm correct, it comes bundled with the belt kit. The gm brand does. Not sure if the gates brand comes with it or not.

Boy am I glad I found this thread. I brought my 2011 V6 with 10800 miles to the dealer yesterday because of a squeal. I thought it might be the pulley. The tech wrote on the order that the squeal is "caused by aftermarket air intake causing crankcase pressure issues. Need to put back to factory will void warranty." Tomorrow I'll take a closer look at the ac belt. I've had a Vararam on it for a couple years without this issue.

I've not heard of the belt issue with a V6. You'll be the first that I'm aware of If you find that your belt is walking part way off of the pulley similar to what is seen on the V8 cars in this thread. If you do see the belt walking, can you post a photo for other V6 owners to see? Honestly, if that's the case, you might also want to start a new thread so that the title of the thread says V6 belt issue or something.

I put the Gates belt on, did it myself, the belt and tool are sold separate, and are still cheaper than GM, it was a really easy install.

O'reilly's is where I got both tool, and belt, thousand miles now, looks like new yet, hopefully lasts longer than factory belt.

I had this exact same problem on my 2012 SS LS3. Purchased car brand new in 2012, AC belt shredded and had to be replaced at 8k. Never had an issue after the first belt was replaced.

Just this year I put an SLP 25% UDP on the car and changed the belt due to the smaller pulley...the new belt is strechy'er (if thats a word) than the stock AC Delco belt so it squeels if the AC is on in the rain once in awhile.

I think the belts GM used on the assembly line are just lower quality than the replacements...maybe a bad batch at the assembly plant, who knows lol.
