Engine Oil problem.
My 1999 v6 camaro has started leaking oil about 2 months ago but it was very minor and didn't pay much attention but new it had to get fixed, and now that it is leaking more im going to get it fixed. So i went to napa and got the gasket beuase that was the problem and i went under my car and noticed the the oil pan is over the exhuast pipe! and i chased the exhaust pipe to see what i can do but it semed very complicated, and the option was getting a jack and lifting the whole engine so i can move the pipe to the side and install the gasket, c'mon im just changing the oil gasket! there has to be another way i asked a shop to see how much it cost for it to get changed and the total was 396.78 that is way to much for a gasket change........but it does seem like a b***h getting the job done. so how would u camaro owners get this done with out moving the engine or going to a shop? Im prety sure you guys have run across this problem. so how do you guys do it?

Honestly, I'd pull the engine.

you dont have to remove the exhaust completely. bout the easiest way is to (drain the oil, if you havent already) disconnect one of the motor mount bolts and use a hoise from above to lift the motor at an angle, pull the pan bolts, and scrape the old gasket out, then work the new one in, going under the rotating assy till you get from one end to the other, then thread the bolts to hold the gasket in place before you torque them down

Yea but i don't have a jack and ima need more than one person to help me out taking al the bolts to disconnect the engine from its mountings. tho im not much leaning towards that unbolting engine thing. but i have drained all the oil out and put new oil in and as it is leaking i put some more in every weekend. but you see i don't wanna keep on doing that the leaking is ruining my concrete. and no ima not going to put a pan under it every day lol

go buy a jack first off. you shouldnt need any help to pull the bolt out. just time, patience and a good jack. get the car up on jackstands (you can get a floor jack and jack stands at walmart in a package for like $30.00-$50.00). to pull the mount bolt, put some pressure under the trans to lift it up just a little, pull the nut off the long bolt and take a small hammer and tap it out so you can lift the motor higher to drop the pan easier.
