All in all I want to come to one of these events but 4000km from my house it's a bit far. Think of us West Coast Canadians.

If it isn't at Firebird in AZ, would rather see it go to Charlotte than back to the Midwest again...they got two in a row...let it move around....

it's no longer firebird. new name and new management. it's called Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park. It's a whole new experience, from what it looks like online. they have a hotel/casino, all new racing facility. i'm sure it's a pretty penny to rent out now. would like to have it there though.

I think trying to have it on either coast, or way south or way north is not the right move. The best bet is middle of the country somewhere. It could be hosted here in Minnesota at Brainerd, full dragstrip, two road course layouts, room for autocross, relatively cheap to rent, beautiful scenery, but again, too far for a lot of people to drive. You have to do what's right for the majority of the people and also take into account the costs of the facilities.
I don't understand joining with the Corvettes. I like Corvettes, had one, and may trade for one in the near future, but I'm pretty sure they will not want to have a gathering with Camaro's attending. It kind of opens the doors for everything else. I think it makes much more sense to invite all generations of Camaro's first before adding the Corvettes. California would be cool, so would Charlotte, as well as Houston, but there on the extreme edges of the country, doesn't really make any logistical sense. When MotoGP was looking for a second venue, they chose Indianapolis. Reason being that 80% of the US population lives within 800 miles of Indianapolis. |

Trying to guess how many and how far people will drive to a location, and how many locals will show up... AZ was probably the best overall location -- close to CA, very active local camaro clubs, close to Texas... we were confident that people could easily travel there. Indy was great because when you look at population density, The North East is like an ant pile of car freaks... So something close to them was very appealing from an attendance perspective. Houston is self-explanatory. Those guys traveled to every fest, except Fest IV (2nd Indy). And, as I may have mentioned before, Most of our vendors say Houston is one of, if not the top selling city for camaro aftermarket products. AND they have a huge local camaro presence... As much as we LOVE to go to a new place... We can't afford to miss on our estimation of attendance... We learned that lesson on Indy II... Not to pick on CA, but one of our concerns is that there are so many car events, that are much bigger than C5F, locals don't get all that excited for smaller events like ours.... So we'd have to have people travel to get our numbers... Hotels are more expensive, and so on... So that's a tough decision... But on the flip side.... If just 50% of all local camaro clubs in CA showed up.... It would be the biggest fest for attendance by a LONG shot.... Plus, there are so many speed shops that we'd expect a decent vendor/sponsor turnout as well... Again just talking out loud, we aren't making decisions in this thread... We just want to give you guys some insight...

Has anyone brought up Auto Club Speedway in SoCal? Has a nice new dragstrip and believe they have resurfaced the roadcourse and are using it again.

Yes! Not the greatest city but a nice facility. I've done communications work there for many years.
