Is my dealer an idiot too???
Okay, here's the story... I called my dealership this past Saturday and tell them I want to "pre-order" a Camaro. They only had 8 out of 16 allocations filled. So the guy takes all my order info and debit card and says he will place the order. Monday, he calls me back and says it is a done deal and it is ordered, and he will fax me the paperwork. So, I get this printout from some GM AutoBook program that says exactly what options I wanted and gives the "pre-order" prices. But it was not the GM WorkBench printout with my confirmation order number. I call him back today, and he now tells me that they cannot submit the order into the GM WorkBench because they can only submit a certain number of orders into WorkBench per month, and they have already filled that number for this month. So he says my order will probably be submitted next month or maybe even the month after!!! I wanted to "PRE-ORDER" a Camaro, not just late-order one after production has started. It sounds like I'm getting pushed out of this whole pre-order deal. Has anyone heard of only allowing so many orders to be submitted to the GM WorkBench per month? Sounds like B.S. to me. Any help or advice (quickly!) would be greatly appreciated.

First off, is it a big Chevy store? If not, there's no way they got 16 allocations.
Yes, he can put your order in through GM workbench now. It may not be pulled this month, but it can still be put in. Considering TODAY is the last day for actual "pre-orders" I would suggest that you get it handled IMMEDIATELY!

Dude, you gave him your debit card, I hope he is family. If he does not enter your order before March deadline your order is not part of the GM early pre-order plan. Run, run fast to the next better informed dealership!!!

An allotment of 16 for a dealer in North Dakota? My Mom's from North Dakota- I don't think I've seen 16 people in that state when visiting!! But I guess if our small dealer in Md got 6, then anything is possible.

Okay, I called another dealership in the area to make sure this was B.S., ....and it was! I called my salesman back and he re-canted his earlier statement. I guess my salesman is not the guy who actually does the ordering so he explained he was not as educated on the process as he should be. He apologized and confirmed with the ordering guy that my order was processed in WorkBench and is good to go. He faxed me the correct paperwork this time, and all looks good. I have the order number and it says SRE-Retail Sold. So, I'm all better now. Thanks for the help guys. Just another salesman who didn't quite know what was going on.

What Chevy dealers need is a "self-checkout" aisle.

That would be awesome... I bet they'd make more money that way too as you wouldn't be able to haggle with a salesman.

Correct...but the 11th was probably the last day you could get a dealer to submit the order in time.

The 11th was the date I said - because if you WAIT until the the last 3 days, dealerships will be crazy busy, and you are taking a chance...the 15th is a SUNDAY - most dealerships are closed...Saturdays are the busiest day of the week...and Friday is the 13th - bwhahahahahahahaha.
