I'd like the Z28 to:

-Look identical to Leno's car...every vent, light, and body line.
-Have an interior identical to Leno's car, suede/leather except I think they should replace the gunmetal facias with something more shiny, and high-class.
-Include MSRC (Magnetic shocks), and be tuned to ZR1 levels, so it can sustain +1G of lat. accel.
-Skinny-spoke wheels(like Leno's car), but keep them at 20", only because less than this starts to look small in the wheel-wells, imo
-Wide tires (305s in the back, 275-285s up front...or 305s up front...)
-Keep the stock brakes, but upgrade the rotors, and paint the calipers blue, or red
-Have an all-aluminum frame/body...to reduce the weight to roughly 3600lbs.
-Include a ~6L DI V8 with VVT, and E85 capability (~500hp, 27mpg hwy)
-Be offered in an automatic transmission, sans AFM (not because I don't like the system...just because.)
-Include HUD, memory seats, and all the standard features currently in the 2SS
-Offer Recaro seats upgrade
-Cost around $45-$48k MSRP.

This would result in a car with a p/w ratio greater than the CTS-V....

I had inquired as to whether you had to have DI or if just meeting the HP and Torque numbers would be ok for you.

And here is my Z wish list. And believe me it is MY wish list. There are no hints or hidden items.

Start with a 2SS

Add the following from the Z06

LS7
Transmission
Brakes

Then

Lower the suspension 1"
20 Inch BBS Wheels
Body kit and rear fascia from the Leno car
Carbon Fiber hood styled the same as the Leno car
LED Fog lamps from the Leno car
Afterburner taillamps from the show car
Recaro seats

I think that's it.

I need a bigger garage

And MR shocks are 2,000 on a Corvette, so you could be in the ball park other than the lower weight.
what if just the front fenders in addition to the hood?

THE, Z28 dream:

LS9
TR6060
Hardened drivetrain
CCM brakes off of the ZR1
ZR1-sized wheels/tires
JINX-styled body
Adjustable coil-overs
Lightened a few hundred pounds without loosing RS content
HUD
Leather
Recaros
Affordable, lol

A car like a Bimmer or Merc' that you can drive to the track in complete comfort; blow-away everything else in the price range; drive home in one piece in complete comfort and drive everyday. Is that too much to ask?!

I'd go for something like the first Z/28...1967.. Light weight, small displacement with relatively high output with no outstanding markings with wheels designed like the LS wheels only larger for wider tires. and all the best suspension goodies that would make it outhandle anything in it's class...in otherwords the ultimate sleeper.

  • Engine roughly equal to LS7* in revs, hp, and torque, with dry sump oiling
  • Fibreglass (or possibly aluminum) front fenders, door skins, and trunk lid
  • LS interior features
  • no sunroof or premium sound options
  • light weight seats (none of that heavy heated power leather stuff!)
  • revised aerodynamics for improved downforce
  • larger brakes
  • improved suspension
  • lighter, wider wheels
  • less sound deadening
  • more aggressive gearing
Target weight would be around 3600 lbs and cost in the mid to high 40's.

* this is assuming the LS7 is being discontinued shortly, if not...use it!

Dust off the old tools and make the original just how it was, but missing a lug nut. Then launder it through some third party source to get around whatever laws they need to. I want that.

Or give me the Leno car body and interior (painted), minus the drivetrain and suspension and let me put what I want it there.
