Installing Garage Door Opener for 1SS

I'm wanting my 1SS to have the ability to have the universal garage door opener. Has anyone tried it, or know what all is involved with the process (time, difficulty, price, etc.)?

Also, do these buttons have the ability to be programmed to open gates for apartments and whatnot, or just garage doors?

edit: Jeez, first post in almost a year... haha

edit 2: Found this which is what I was looking for/wanting to do. However, since the harness is feature specific might put this on the backburner.

You're the one that asked if anyone tried it.

I install it in my 1SS as well. I bought a used unit on eBay for $30 and installed it using the procedure in this thread.

I bought a used one on eBay from a wreck and asked them to include the cable and connector going to the homelink unit. They included it at no additional charge.
