Arrow Are 1st Gen RS Camaro's More Popular than SS Ones?

My question is this: are 1st gen RS Camaro's more popular than the 1st gen SS Camaro's? Because I was watching this show on Speed called Pass Time (some of you might watch it) and they were asking this guy about his '69 RS and the guy asked if it's a real RS or not, and the owner answered yes, and the other guy was like wow.

i don't think that "more popular" is an accurate way to describe it. the RS package was visual only .... disappearing headlights and some interior trim. SS package was performance in nature ..... the two packages didn't overlap each other, they complimented each other. probably more people "clone" SS and Z28 cars than they do RS cars. from the factory, SS badging took precedence over RS badging. it really depends on the owner/buyer and what they like.

Well, in my dreambook.....the Z/28-RS was the ultimate!!! But I have to agree, it is not as easy to clone a RS. Mainly because the front fenders are RS specific, and original GM NOS RS fenders are extremely hard to find and expensive. But the look of those hide-away headlights are hard to beat.

he was probably shocked that he was drag racing an origonal RS car... most people that drag first gen Camaros start out with a Stock Small block or 6 cyl base car because they were lighter.. They may stick on the SS trim, but the RS trim is heavier and so it would be slower...

Bill summed it up nicely .. you could have an auto six banger be an RS but the SS base engine was the 350/300

Bill my COPO is from WV bough just across the river in Ohio... lots of great muscle in WV
