OK. But what about the tires. Which would you buy?

The 20" Blizzaks are $296 more per set. Plus maybe another $100-$200 for the set of 20" wheels vs. 19" wheels. And more weight for 20" wheels and tires.

Either one should be a great tire. The question is can a 19 inch rim fit. The blizzaks and the scorpians are very good tires and rate very well up against each other. I have had good luck with the blizzaks I will probably keep with those

C3 Corvettes have 12" rotors and 4 piston calipers and a 15" wheel fits over it all. So, you might be able to use a 17" wheel on the front.Just depends on the caliper dimensions. Anyone know what model Brembo caliper will be used?

Cool, maybe an 18" wheel will fit over the huge Brembo's. I might just buy a $2000 beater, I might have a place to store the Camaro for 4-5 months.

How often should the car be driven if I store it? So the rotors don't warp?

Would every 2 weeks be ok???

I still might not get a beater and get snows, it all depends on storage, etc.

A higher profile tire with a moderately stiff sidewall will give you more absolute grip at the sacrifice of a little bit of steering feedback. This is true up to about a 45 series tire. I'd buy a set of 18" CCWs for the track and road course because 20's are too heavy and too damned big, and the tires are way too damned expensive and don't grip well enough.

Right. Because monobloc calipers stick 2 inches over the rotor.

You really think an 18" wheel won't fit over a 14" rotor with a 4 piston Brembo caliper? Tell that to GM.

Any ideas?

It would be appreciated if GM had someone around to answer tech questions, such as your wheel/tire one – anonymously if necessary. They did it on a forum for my Malibu Maxx.

A question to ask is will the 18” aluminum wheels on the 1LT fit the SS Brembo brakes on the SS. Add me to the list of those who think the manditory wheel/tie combination on the SS models is impractical and ridiculous, if you actually wish to use these cars as daily drivers and not car show or museum pieces.

If the GM aluminum 18’s would fit, you could use those with the confidence of being the correct design. Maybe the dealer would do a no-cost swap or someone with an LT would swap for the 20’s.

I’m considering not buying the car because of the wheels/tires and the lack of either a leather-delete or cooled leather seats on the 2SS. Heated leather seats may be useful in Michigan but not Florida. And when would the heated seats be used since the supplied tires are for summer use? GM should give the option of aluminum 18" wheels with all-season tires on all 2010 Camaros.

Thankyou. Jeff D.
While I haven't taken delivery of my 2SS/RS yet, from personal experience with other vehicles, a Brembo 4 Piston, 14" (355mm) rotor can fit with most 18" wheels. On some wheels the drop center protrudes inside the inner barrel which may cause clearance issues.

As a general rule of thumb from my own experience, 14" Brembo kits require 18" wheels minimum, 15" Brembo kits require 19" minimum and 16" Brembo kits require 20" wheels minimum.

Here is a good link about general wheel construction:

It's not just the offset that matters, but the spoke profile as well.
I understand this issue well. The Sti has huge capilers and a huge offset on the wheels. 17" wheels over those calipers doesn't leave hardly any room...it's spooky how close it is.

I can vouch for the scorpions, use them on my TBSS. I use Dunlop wintersport 3D's on the Sti and really love those. And, you do want narrow tires for winter, think dig, not float

Sorry for thread jacking. But let's say a 14" fits... Well, I mean it does. But what about the rear brakes? Would a 14.4" still fit in that 18? Might have to do 19's in the back, 18's in the front? I wonder if we could get a 14" rotor to work out back to put 18's all around? Or maybe even some 13" rotors out back for some 17" wheels and some nice Drag radials??? Anyone know or have a good guess?

18s will fit over the rear calipers...barely. The right wheel will. Good luck finding that wheel.

$1680 CAD funds ...... today I had 18" gunmetal 8 spoke alloys with 225/60R hurcules Avalanche Extremes insatlled. There was other choices for wheels.

18" wheels will fit. In fact with carefull planning 17" will fit. The problem is you have to add 1/2" more to the factory offset or the rim will hit the upper spindle.
