Anybody use the dealership for maintenence?

I am one of those people that likes to use the dealer for simple things, oil changes, tire rotations etc. It just keeps everything together if there ever happens to be a warranty issue, or any other problem down the road. I brought my SS into a dealer on saturday for the first oil change, (the one i bought it from isnt open on saturdays for service)

I drove down to Scarsdale from my house, about 45mins, and hung out with some bored sales people checking out the Vette Grand Sport for about an hour.

Now when I talked to the service writer, he made a joke, "Corvette motor, corvette oil change, corvette price." I knew he was serious and I knew the camaro took 8/9 qts of oil, but I didnt realize it was a $107.54 to change the oil. Im not going to complain about it, because I know dealerships are usually a little more expensive and it was my decision to go there either way. But wow. I guess I just didnt see it coming to over 100 bucks.

Anybody else use the dealer? How much did you pay? Just curious.

I have used the dealerships, and paid anywhere from $80 to $100.

I bought my car in Feb 2010 and have not been back to dealer since. I dont trust them. Ive had to many other things go wrong at dealers in the past. I will only go back if I need warranty work.

That's about right for the increased quantity we require.

See that was my first thought also, if I only need an oil change every few months or so (I have only 5000 miles on it since sept.) That price kind of evens out over time. Now it might have just been an oversight but the tech put 3000 miles to next oil change? They cant seriously think ill be back in 3k miles for another $100 service.

Either way I guess its just a sign of the times, gotta pay to play and all that jazz...

I only go to the dealership here in Tulsa for oil changes. I bring my own oil and filter and they change it for like 10 bucks. I usually do everything myself, but as of now I can't do anything "hard" at my apartment...

My original dealer as well as my new dealer lets me provide my own fluids and filters, only charges $15-20, and will let me watch. I now have an approved maintenance record in case of any warranty disputes. My original dealer went under and GM felt so bad for me that they sent me a service card good for either an oil change, tire rotation, or 27 point inspection, performed a total of 4 times in this calender year... for each of my 3 vehicles!

I paid $67 out the door at AnnaBear's Sparta (MI) Chevy last night. They also came across 3 bulletin issues and took care of them. I just wish they had a more extensive inventory I could have perused while waiting.

Edit: And, yes, that was for Mobil 1.

I have had good experience with my current GM dealer repairing my other, much older GM vehicles. (My previous GM dealer was terrible, no wonder they went out of business.)

But maintenance? No thanks, I do it myself. It's good to get under the car from time to time and see what's going on.

i go to the dealer for oil changes and it's like 67-72 (mobile 1) bucks depending. they usually send out coupons every now and then. have not taken my car to any local shops because i trust mechanics about as far as i can throw them

I never even used the free oil change coupon. I only went to the during the first month when the BA system didn't "see" my ipod. Not since then.

I can get 12 qts of mobil 1 at Sam's for around $65. I try to do as much as I can myself. I'm just not a trusting kind of guy when it comes to my cars.
