Vert Roll Cages

I'm doing research on how far I want to take my vert, and it seems cages are still semi new for the vert (no threads created that I can see).

Ultimately I want to be able to break into the 10s on the strip, and 200 club on Texas Mile. So I'm looking at 5 and 6 point welded cages.

Thoughts and feedback appreciated. I'll humbally state that I'm new to this, however learning quick.

P.S. Yes I want to do this with a vert

i would look into a roll cage a little more beefy for that, with a vert you are lacking some torque strength. i would build a custom one that ties together the front and rear

Are you talking about a roll cage, or a roll bar? If I understand correctly, a cage would need to go through the dash along the pillars. Are you really going to have a full-time cage in a convertible?

I am planning on getting a 6-point roll bar made that will be removable. As long as I stay above 11.0, I believe that is all that I need (along with a seat harness, fire-rated jacket, gloves, and Snell 2005 or better helmet.)

Here is a really good looking one, but it's not "legal". I'll probably get on in my daily after i go FI.

The link you entered is the one from Atlanta Performance and Fabrication. If I remember right, this was a teenage girl, and her father required it.

EDIT: Ah I see the sarcasm!

Angelwings Tech is planning a bolt-in rollbar, similar to their Angelwings C5C6 Track Day Bar for 5th and 6th gen. Corvettes. We hope to have it ready in time for the CamaroFest.

Does anyone in SoCal have a convertible that we can borrow for a couple of weeks? We promise to take excellent care of it (no racing) and you will get our first Gen 5 Track Day Bar at our cost. Yes, I'm serious!

Our Angelwings C5C6 Track Day Bar for 5th & 6th Gen. Corvettes retails for $1695 plus shipping. That's with the standard satin black powdercoat finish. I suspect that the Gen 5 TDB for Camaro convertibles will be in the same ballpark.

The Corvette version is constructed of 1-1/2" dia., 0.12" wall DOM steel. The Camaro version will likely use 1-5/8" or 1-3/4" dia., because of the greater curb weight of the Camaro. Like the Corvette version, we plan on designing it to be a true bolt-in, with minimal cutting and no welding required. Once it is installed, it can be removed and reinstalled quickly and easily. It won't meet SCCA, NASA or NHRA standards, but it will allow Camaro convertible owners to participate in track days and HPDEs. It won't interfere with the operation of the top, and most importantly, it will look very cool. And like all of our products, it will be made in the U.S.

We would really like to have it ready for the Camaro5Fest, but it really depends upon how quickly we can get a donor Camaro convertible.
