Tires and rims for the track
I am getting the car ready for racing this season. We put a Cam in the car with usually bolt ons. I am add a converter and 3,73 rear. I was wondering what rim size and tires you guys are running. I heard that I can get an 18 or 17 on the car. Can you give an idea of the tire and rollout you think I should run.

There are a few different 18" wheels you can fit on your SS (if you remove the front "roller skates" from your brake pads). With 18's, I believe most people are running a 305/45R18 drag radial on the rear. There are only a couple 17" wheels that will fit over the Brembo Brakes, and they are spendy (and the Weld Wheels will require modification to the lower control arms if you are lowered at all). With the 17's, there are a few choice drag radials to run (I will be running 325/45R17), or the Hoosier 28x10-17 drag slick (not street-legal) is quite popular at the track. It really all depends on your budget and your intentions for the car. Do you want a street-legal set-up, or are you looking for a track-only set of wheels/tires?
Some of the more popular 18" wheels include: TSW Nurburgring or Interlagos Forgestar F14 or CF5 Corvette replica wheels (C5 or C6, I can't remember which it is). Some 17" choices are: Bogart Racing Weld Racing CCW Last edited by blazzin1; 01-30-2012 at 04:04 PM. |
