FUEL PUMP issues...
Hey there. Went 1 year without major mecanical problem!! Things unfortunately changed 2 days ago. My 2001 RS (V6, 74K) starts, but then the engine doesnt catch. For having had a Ford a couple years ago and a similar situation, I believe the fuel pump is dead. I had it towed to the shop and waiting on diagnosis and estimation.
2 questions: - How much does it cost to install a new fuel pump on V6 Camaros ($500+)? - Should I consider using a "generic" part (pump) if it cut the costs significantly or is that really strongly not recommended? Im starting to wonder if I really want to keep the car if every year Im gonna have to cover $500+ in extra repairs (plus reg. oil changes, etc.). So if the non-OEM pump could last 20K miles, that would work for me... Thanks for your help, advice, input. Happy Mother's Day. |

That's what a warranty is for, you won't have to pay anything just take it to the dealer.

check out the trap door mod on camaroz28.com,, otherwise you need to drop your exhaust system and the rearend to even start to get the fuel tank down,, i dont think you would find any shop to do a fuel pump in a 4th gen for $500

I read the post quickly and assumed it was a 2010 not a 2001 bc it's posted in camaro problems/issues on the 5'th gen forum, not under the other generation part of the forum.
