man that sucks!! sorry to see this..

if it helps (probably doesn't)..about a week prior to my lease end of my last car, a stupid construction sign falls in front of my car at just the right distance where i couldn't stop in time (it was in mid-fall), i couldn't change lanes (it was a construction zone with the other lane pylon'd off) and i just had to keep going. it was crazy..scretched up my front and the entire side of my car.....

this type of stuff you really can't do anything about it. hope it gets fixed up soon

Nope, I have State Farm.

Another issue with tires is how old they are. Tires are often sold as "new unused" which may be true in that they were never put on a car or truck, but they may have sat in a warehouse for years. If they've sat through several cycles of cold and heat over the years they get hard and brittle, just like a rubber band does. Put them on a vehicle and in no time they'll completely blow apart because the rubber is brittle and can't handle the stresses of use and heat or cold.

Every tire has a manufacture date on it. Look on one side or the other of a tire and near the rim you'll see the word DOT, some code and then an oval that can either have letters and numbers or just numbers in it. If it has more than 4 numbers in it, the last four numbers are the date it was made. For example mine have 0509 which means they were made in May of 2009. The first two are the month (01-12) and the last two are the year. If the date code on a tire is more than 4 years old, then don't buy it or if it's already on your car, replace it. Tell the dealer who has the tire to contact the manufacturer; they should be able to pull old stock like that and replace with new tires. They can recycle the rubber.

Tires that have been sitting unused for more than 4 years are just time bombs waiting to explode. You'd be surprised at how old some "new" tires actually are.

Like everyone said, better the car than you to get hurt. It is disheartening to see the damage... :flag1: hopefully shes back up and running soon

I should change the title of this thread to "I love State Farm"

So, this happened on Wednesday. I called State Farm that afternoon. Their claims department called me yesterday. They told me a claims rep will get with me next week sometime.

Well, lo and behold, the claims rep called me this morning, looked at the car, and cut me a check on the spot.

The car is now in the very capable hands of Piccione's Custom Paint and Body.

Minimize the chances of this happening again. Get yourself a $500 Toyota beater. Leave the Camaro at home during the week.
