ZL1 Tires

Hello!!! My 17'ZL1 is going to need tires soon. I have 11,800 miles and the front right is pretty bad. The other three are not great but not as bad as the right front. Need to check alignment. Are you guys going with the factory Goodyears or the Michelin P2S4's? They are about 400.00 more money but they should last a lot longer. I heard they are a bit narrower. Advise please!!!!

This is not a 1LE. I don't drive it really that easy and the other 3 tires are actually decent. I just looked at them again and on the tire in question the outside thread is worn down to nothing. The rest of the tire has thread. Someone at tire rack told me that the 200 rating on this tire means they should go about 20k miles. The Michelins are 300 rated. Also, I keep 32 pounds of air in them. I may have a alignment issue. The fronts are worn more than the back. That doesn't make sense unless it's alignment.

I'm at 6100mi and down to 1-2/32nds. They will never make it to 10k, and no way I'm going into wet season with these tires in their current condition. I don't drive The Mistress in rain, but I would sign my death warrant to drive bald OEM tires through a summer Florida 2"+/hr downpour.

How the hell are you guys getting 10k+ miles on the OEM tires?! Must be a bunch of lightfoots getting 18+ MPG too!

Here is a comparison of the 305. Sorry I haven't gotten around to collecting comparison stats on the 285s. The first number is the height and the 2nd number is tread width in inches. You can get this information and more on tirerack.com. Once you select a tire, go down to "spec" section towards the bottom of the page.

305/30/20
GOODYEAR EAGLE F1 SUPERCAR 3 27.2 11.8
MICHELIN CUP 2 27.2 11.0
MICHELIN PILOT SUPER SPORTS 27.2 11.4
MICHELIN PILOT 4S 27.2 11.6
HOOSIER R7 “TRACK ONLY” 27.1 11.6

I have some other alternative size comparisons for the ZL-1, if you are looking for something else, let me know, be glad to share.

I'm at 5k...pretty sure at this point I'm gonna stick with OEM rubber for what I need living in deep s tx. It's not a DD & I stay pretty warm & don't wanna have to fret if I get a chance to make it to the track.

Curious how many more miles I'll get myself.

I'm at 5500m and my 3rd set of 3R's (track only) and run PS4's on a separate set of rims for street driving. I leave the car in track mode with 2.8 camber and 0 toe.

I blow through fronts (inside cords), and have 3 sets of used rear tires in the garage. Waiting on an opportunity to get on a skid pad and have all my cameras charged up

Hmmm maybe I'd better take mine out of track mode and save the PS4s. I have 2 sets as well.

It's not my daily, and only sees occasional weekend mountain run/shopping/sunday cruise duties. Switching back and forth between alignments is more trouble than it's worth, especially knowing the Toe goes whack every time we switch.

Same thing here except I haven't had a track alignment done yet so I'm really out of whack.

I had an f'it moment last Friday and bought a set of Nitto NT555 G2s for my ZL1. I went up one size on the rear to the 315/30-20 and put the 285/30-20 on the front.

I had 8012 miles on the original tires. Still had some usable tread on the fronts, but the rears were toast.

So far, I like the Nittos. I get that they won't be very good on the track, but next month, I will have had this car a year and still have yet to take it to the track.

Good luck.
