Why is my Camaro whistling when I accelerate?

So I upgraded my audio and now when I hit the gas, I hear this whistle sound. What gives?

Upgraded your audio? My car has always had a whistling sound to it, especially with the air raid intake. Never really bothered me.

ok when you are talking whistle are you talking from speakers or from out side?

also that was fast for an audio set up with custom box. let me guess just a box with two 12"s in the back.

Sounds (no pun intended) like a grounding problem with your audio "upgrade". Have whoever did the install recheck your wiring.

Maybe you should check the source one more time.

It may be that YOU are just "whistling a happy tune" while accelerating.
It happens to most of us. You don't even realize you're doing it.

(sorry..I couldn't resist )

I'm willing to bet it's your mirrors. Roll your windows down, turn your stereo and fan OFF and cruise between 20-30MPH. You'll hear the whistle almost every time. Now place your left fist in the space to the right of the mirror next to the door frame and the whistle will cease or change pitch. Something about the design that causes this. They must have tested in 150MPH wind tunnel, not 30

Check your new audio system and see if it has a "Bridge over the River Kwai" soundtrack CD in it.

Sounds like you need a noise filter installed....or use a different powersource...what you are likely hearing is engine noise from the alternator...

Something like this...

^^sounds like you're getting unwanted engine noise through your car speakers. Turn your audio off, then try it. It's your audio components and/or installation.

I've used balanced transmitters/receivers in the past to combat this audible annoyance.
