Is porting the TB worth it?

I have an L99, and will be installing Kooks 1 7/8 long tubs with cats, corsa catback and I have a CAI. I will be getting a dyno tune as well.

Is it worth $150 for them to port the TB? The guy told me my peak HP wouldn't increase but I'd get a little more responsiveness with acceleration on everything but WOT.

Thoughts?

You may increase a little HP on the stock engine but your guy is pretty much on the money about it, but when you start doing more engine mods ie: cam, ported intake, ported heads...etc, it will help even more.

I have Kooks 1 7/8, Borla S series catback, CAI. and had the TB and Intake ported along with a Dyno tune. It made a nice difference in the butt dyno feel. Did not add much to the peak HP. You will feel it in throttle response at the bottom end the most. Was it worth it I would say yes it adds alot to the fun factor on the street.

I know that porting the TB, and sometimes drilling a small hole in the butterfly itself can help with a car that has an aggressive cam installed.

I've seen ported TB's for closer to $100.....do your due diligence and if you could do it for a bill, then I'd say yes.

Best of luck and report back on how it turns out!,
