nasty brake squeal
Took my car out last night and got a nasty sound from the front wheel. I would think its brakes, only lasted a minute and went away after I hit the brakes a few times. Could this be anything else, just sounded like metal on metal, ver high pitched. I am taking it in tomorrow morning to get it checked. I just hit 30,500 miles.

It could be a lot of things, but taking in to have it checked is the safe choice.

Congrats to you for taking it in to get checked. A hands on mechanic will be able to diagnose much better than us.

Huh, interesting. Mine just started doing that just the other day. I was driving down the highway and could hear a slight squeal from one side of the car. If I tap the brakes, it goes away, but will return within a minute. I just turned 27k about a month ago. Guess its time to take her in for a brake inspection.

Mine squeak as well, but I think my car was manufactured before they started installing those different brake calipers.
I have some ceramic pads that I'm going to throw on there, so hopefully that will fix it. |

It's the brake pads I replaced mine at 27k. Also if you put ceramic they will always make a noise just so you know . I you don't want the noise don't buy ceramic. Personally I have ceramic and love them I just deal with the noise

My car doesnt even have 2000 miles on it yet and they have been squeeling for the last 500 or so miles, and i know theyre not shot yet, but with the big ass brembos on the front Im sure they have a hard compound pad in there, I absolutly hate it but what else are you going to do with a new car. Maybe in a few thousand miles Ill consider changing pads.

I picked mine up 2 months ago and it has 2,500 miles on it. The brake pads do make the squeeling noise even when they're brand new. For mine though, its intermittent (spelling). Its embarrassing at a red light. After i get the car out from winter storage I will probably buy different pads that have brake dust too!

Make no mistake. This not your typical squeal, I have a real piercing sound like metal on metal. I have the regular squeal every once in a while and I'm not concerned with that. I was supposed to take my car in today but my girlfriends car decided to break down this morning and I had to cancedl my appointment. I think god has a strange sense of humor..anybody know what brakes wil cost by the way.
