Dust spots in clearcoat?

Just did a first hand wash of Patches our 2010 SS LS3 and disscovered 16 dust spots raised in the clearcoat on the main body panels, not the f/r clips or spoiler. its late in the day to take to dealer but I will. Has anyone
also had this and attemted warraty? car is just 28 days old.
or am I better to just wet sand and polish?

I have a couple of small spots. I'm not too worried about it since I'll get rock chips eventually. But 16? I would think warranty would cover it. Although it is just a "Camaro", I would think the quality control to be better. Good luck.

How big are the spots? Can you feel them when you run your finger over the top? Also can you see what caused the dust spot? Black spec of something?
If you cannot see any debri in the paint I would just have a qualified tech nib the spots with some 2000 wet paper and then buff. Key word here is QUALIFIED. The dealer should cover it and be able to handle the job or know where to send it for the repair. If there is debri that can be seen it may cause a problem and pop off at a later date. Wet sanding it smooth will only make the spot more noticeable unless you sand it all the way out and most likely result in a sand through. Be sure the person who makes the call is a trained refinisher not a typical service jocky.

My camaro has atleast 16 spots in the clear if not more! I took it to the dealer today, and they are having their bodyshop sand and buff it next week. I also have spots on the bottom of the doors (can only be seen when the car is on a lift) where the clear was laid on so thick it started to drip from the panel. would expect more attention to detil for $38000

Got my car back on Friday...looks great! They even gave me a camaro to drive while they were performing the work. Now the finish looks like it should have at delivery.....they only had to sand and buff....no paintwork at all. I was very relieved!

Very cool dude! Your dealer took care of you. I have the same color and can only find one dust spot and the paint seems to be holding up against chipping very well.

I've made a thread where we can try to find something in common about these issues. Mine has junk in the clear that make bumps like open wounds, and under the yellow color coat too !
