My car is auto v6. Shouldnt it be different oil?

as for the poll, looks more and more like people favor the owner's manual recommendations of doing nothing.

The poll is worthless. Most people don't know what they are talking about.
Royal Purple Oil will NOT void your warranty.
Just because the warranty is 100K does not mean there is no maintenance.
It is a mechanical machine that need to be cared for and serviced.

Mobil 1, AMSOIL, Redline, Lucas, Royal Purple all make great oil products that are correct for the Camaro and will not void any warranty.

Exactly, it can't hurt.

My Camaro has 5000 miles and I have changed every fluid in it already. The mileage is low but the car is almost 2 years old. Brake fluid absorbs moisture and should be serviced yearly. The Automatic has no dip stick to check the fluid. You would be surprised how dirty it gets. The diff oil also gets really dirty from the limited slip clutches breaking in.

how can you say that? if GM doesn't recommend changing the fluids early, i would say it is a matter of personal opinion at that point as to whether you should or not. there is really no proof that changing fluids early has any benefit or not.

a poll is a quick way to analyze everyone's personal opinion.

I'm at the dealer doing this right now. For a second the guy looked at me funny and so I told him the manual says to do it at 1500, and many people say it should be done. He then said "oh ya you are right."

I did mine with AMSOIL severe gear at 600 miles and a bottle of GM friction modifier additive...oil was BLACK....there was metal in the OIL. Checked magnet at 3000- clean. Checked again 6000- clean. About to put her away for the winter but plan on checking once more now with 10K on the clock.

Planned on it, I changed the engine oil at 500, 1500 and 3000 miles and the tranny at 1500, but some how I totally overlooked the rearend fluid. Guess I will be doing that before I take her out again. At least I have something to do to the camaro this winter beside installing my exhaust.

Wish I read this when I did my first oil change last weekend. Hopefully Santa brings me a quart of Royal Purple Diff Fluid for Christmas!

Gonna have to do this next weekend. I'm at about 6200 miles now... I feel bad for my diff now lol.
