What kind of questions should I ask before looking at Long Tube headers...
There is a local shop 5 minutes away from me that makes their own LT headers and custom exhaust.
Here's a link to the headers: http://www.mandrelbendingsolutions.c...olet%2C/Detail My question to you all, what kind of questions should I be asking about these? A good set of Kooks is around 900+, $300 for these... is it because they are built locally? I was quoted around 1,100 for a full exhaust, I would need to get it tuned at another location though as they do not do this. Not sure how much a good tune is... I'll call Maryland Speed once I feel comfortable enough... lol All this started when I went looking for Muffler Delete options, I'm thinking I should just save my money and go all out with a full system/tune. Current info on car: 2011 2SS LS3, CAI Inc. CAI with scoop, RX Catch Can Thoughts? Thanks guys. |

BTW, most companies have a lowest advertised price. Make some phone calls and see what they really are. In the budget realm you've got doug thorley, SW etc. You can get a set of kooks for less than 900. Don't know how well they'll work but according to the other poster you'll have to "dimple them" for clearance and honestly those welds make OBX look nice..... Also plan on new flanges and o2 extensions.

Thanks guys, I'll be looking elsewhere for headers then, seeing China and clearance issues instantly changed my mind on these.

Spend the money and buy a good set, you wont regret it. I contimplated the cheaper headers also, but the saying you get what you pay for stands true.

Seems Kooks and SW are the most popular on here. Kooks with Hi-flow cats are around $1200-1300. Well worth the the extra money.

Call Maryland Speed. He is one of the largest Kooks dealers around. He can have your headers coated by Jet-Coat and then shipped to you. I got a sweet deal on mine a few months ago. He doesn't quote prices via PM, call Branden the owner.

Don't forget the TSP stainless headers. We offer fully polished 304 stainless 1 7/8" headers for half most other brands cost, and then we've added a all new 304 stainless x pipe for guys wanting a 3" x pipe!
