I honestly don't know how people who drive 2003-4 SVT Cobras do it. Apart from the shifter, the clutch in them is about 3 times heavier than the second heaviest clutch in the world.

The new GT is a big improvement.

Agree, the new GT shifter looks and feels great. It's a shame the tranny is bad...

I don't think its the design, it's the inconsistent Chinese manufacturing. A lot of them are just fine, some of them are not. It's hit and miss.

Today I noticed that a couple of the primaries were touching each other as they got close to the collector. I thought I was on to something. I wedged a screwdriver between them and it still chirped. I pulled the passenger side gasket and cleaned it and re-seated the header. Still chirped. Checked the entire length of exhaust for clearance for the millionth time. Pulled the serpentine belt to disable accessories.... still chirped.

I think I have been through everything at this point. I'm going to drive up to see a mechanic buddy sometime this week and see if he has ever heard such a thing. I might still stop by Autozone and pick up a fuel line separator so I can pull the intake manifold and check some of the lobes. I almost hope I see f*cked up lobes just so I don't have to wonder what the stupid noise is anymore.

Thats weird man, when you said chirping I immediately thought of clearance underneath...But you said you checked that so I don't know.. And everything is in place so there is no play when you get on it? Or somewhere maybe the vibrations can cause the rub? Also check your hangars, might be rubbing there.

Yeah I know it's not the shifter... The one that I test drove was terrible. I was fighting with it into 2nd and 3rd for the entire drive.

Checked, checked, and triple checked. I've also run it open headers and the chirping is still there, so I know it's not the catback. I have even checked everything that made absolutely no sense! We've got an engine hoist now, so if the heads are coming off, then the motor is coming out and getting a new rotating assembly and cam. Upgrade while you're in there right?!

It is a little weird that literally no one online or in person knows WTF the noise is. It's like no one has ever heard it before. If I have to dig into the motor, then the car is down anyways. I might as well make it a 416 for about the same price the dealer would like to charge me to replace a lifter (even thought they should replace them all). I'll probably still find something really stupid that has been causing the problem all along, but I do have a plan B!

I was at Burt airport yesterday for some top speed runs and man it was cool as hell. Andy aka LastLs1 was there with his black turbo TA from Speedinc you might know this car from the LsX series racing or Holley fest. Awesome guy and he laid down a 202MPH run in just a Lil less than 1/2 mile but those GTR's were freaky fast.

Doesn't it though? I'd love to do that. Our airport is going broke and they would still never let me go do that on their runway.
