good price for alignment?

Had a performance shop quote me $300 for an alignment since I just had my coilovers put on. They said it was a "custom" alignment and would take them an entire day. Does that sound right?

NO. Sounds to high. And no way should it take all day.

I took mine to Rodgers Chevrolet. They installed my lowering springs and performed the alignment on their new rack for a total of $359. That was 6 years ago. The alignment portion is done in less than an hour. It does take a little bit as you want to make sure the bushing go thru the timing step. Basically with everything loose, they bounce the car around or even drive it back and forth for a moment allowing the set-up to settle into its position.

It should not take all day. Four corner balance with me in the seat and alignment and bushing maintenance for my car didn't last all day.

300 is really high for my area and I am in one of the most expensive communities in the country. Shrug.

For every sports car I own, I get lifetime alignment from Firestone for $159. Then I get it re-aligned for free any time I change out or touch a suspension component.

My Miata has Öhlins race suspension (coilovers) but they never asked for additional fee, even though I always ask for specific, custom alignment specs. I always work with their master technician, and always tip him $20. I've been doing this for 9 years over Corvettes, STi, Evo, Camaro, Miata, etc.; never had an issue, and always got the alignment specs I wanted.

Someone on facebook told me to go to a particular firestone where they get their bmw done. I was just skeptical on using firestone for this. You saying you trust them to do ok then?

It depends...not all Firestones/mechanics/shops are alike. Some have good alignment guys...some dont. Same with dealers.

I use Firestone, paid for the lifetime alignment when I first lowered the car, and every time we are testing a new suspension component, they realign it, including when I switched to coilovers a few months ago. I just check the before/after specs before they pull it off the rack, they have no issue with my custom specs that I give them. And I even have access to my own alignment rack, it is so much easier to let them do it and have never had an issue.

4 wheel alignment at Les Schwab after lowering was $85. If you lowered your Camaro with your coil overs, make sure to do bushing timing BEFORE you go in or you will be paying for two alignments.

That's weird about Firestone. I talked to them in my area and they said they won't sell the lifetime alignment to lowered or lifted vehicles.also said that they just do alignments from what GM specs are.

I had that reaction from some of them. Some others, though, didn't cause trouble.

I took my to Firestone for an alignment. They tried to sell me the lifetime alignment and they knew my car was lowered. I like Firestone I went to. They was very careful with my car.
