Would like to have seen a similar upper and lower grille, this would give the front fascia some flow versus a top and bottom separation.
One of the things I thought they did well when designing the ZL1 front. Shorter upper grille does add a faster, more streamline look. The initial look of a larger lower grill is good, but then the top 1/3rd is like a block off plate. I know why, aero efficiency, etc.. couldn't they have restricted it further inside the bumper? Would probably present better with an open look from the front. Or, made it shorter? without the block off. Losing the mail slot, win. Very cool on the 10'-13's, time for a change though. More refined now. The front end is growing on me, slowly. The rear is cut a little high between the exhaust tips for me. Quite a bit hanging out there. A fan of short skirts, leaving some to the imagination is good. As others have mentioned the lic. plate area stands out, the 50/50 body color/fascia split amplifies it more. Either a lower cut on the fascia separation or higher plate recess? Taillights are growing on me. Hmmm. |

I keep looking at the different shots of the 2014, hoping I will see what the design engineers see that made them choose to make these changes, but it is just not happening. There were four good years (2010-2013) for the fifth gen, so 4 out of five is not bad. Regardless of all the commentary & opinions, the only thing that is going to matter is sales. If Camaro sales go up in 2014 those that don't like the changes are going to be eating our words.

I guess Chevrolet is still undecided as to whether or not people will approve of their redesign, so they keep their flagship Camaro partially redesigned. That is my guess.
The ZL1 on the carrier has a sharkfin on the trunk because it is a convertible. All Camaro convertibles have their sharkfin on the trunk since they cannot mount the antenna on the folding soft top.

Just face it.
How many ppl were disappointed when the Corvette changed from 1968-1982. Still during all this time it managed to keep it sexy appeal. Their always going to be something you hate or love about a car! I betcha once they 2014 will be driving down the road you wish you had one, IMHO. |

I just don't think the new rear look works with the old front end. It's like the fronts too big for the back. Clearly when the gm team went for the refresh, they redesigned the whole automobile to be more sleek and slender, hence the smaller grill and headlight space and the single slim tailight area. This look is great for everymodel but the ZL1. The combination of old and new does not compliment the ZL1 at all. In fact, the 2014 ZL1 is the least attractive of the new Gen V.5 line up.
