Sub doesn't work unless car is running

Is this normal? We just got a sub installed and while the car is running, it's on. Once you turn off the engine and keep the stereo on, the sub shuts off. Is something wired wrong?

Not enough power to drive your sub or a wiring issue.

Sounds like the remote wire on the amp may be connected to something that's only on when the engine is running. When you turn the engine off do the lights on the amp turn off? If so it's probably that's probably your problem.

Probably something with the remote wire would be my guess.

I'm assuming when they wired up the stereo they hooked the remote wire up to the 12v power source like the cigarette lighter, if this is what they did then it makes sense that it stops when the car is off, all you need to do is re-position the remote wire for the amplifier. Very easily done, you should tap it into a wire on the head unit.
