Angry Unable to auto pump gas!

I have about 1200 miles on my 2SS. Even though I just made 5-6 trips to the pump, I'm exhausted as I'm unable to pump gas automatically.. By pressing the handle. And if I hold it manually in a certain angle it seems to work. Any known issues? I tried to look online but didn't find any recent posts on this issue. I usually pump at Kroger or SAMs club as it saves me money, tried at a chevron but same issue everywhere. Appreciate any input.

Thanks Nash.

Strange, like the pump would shut off like you have a full tank?

pump popping off like its full? That means that air is not getting out of the tank while filling... Air pressure needs to be released when filling a tank up.. when the Gun pops its air pressure telling you it thinks the tank is full... your Tank Vent is some how plugged.. maybe got some gunk on it and its not releasing enough air.. I usually just pull the outside of the nozzle and let the gas flow but be careful because you will over flow it if your not listening carefully to it filling... But check you Gas Tank Vent its probably bent or gunked up.. hope this helps..

Haven't had this problem with my camaro, but I have it with my truck. Maybe something to do with the pumps because I usually fill up at the same station and I'll have the issue during a fill up and won't have it on the next.

My 2010 Camaro wouldn't let me auto pump but my 2012 does. Not sure what the difference is.

That's crazy! So you can not pump gas without holding the trigger? I know the gas door is cheap but seriously?

Usually need to pick up on the handle to allow the nozzle to have more of a straight shot down the gas filler tube. The pump shuts off if I just leave it hang with the lever locked. It usually dispenses fine if the lever is not in the maximum position. So maybe try a notch or two lower on the lever. Of couse it will take more time, but it won't be exhaustive for you.

Yes. That's the issue, glad that I'm not the only one..I was trying to put it on mid level on the handle but seems like there's a vacuum that's being created. Do u guys think a trip to the dealership helps?

I had this problem in my truck. It was the EVAP vent valve solenoid. It did not allow air to escape the tank properly so the only way it could get out was back up the filler neck causing gas to backup a bit and click the pump off. Not sure if its a similar system in the camaros or not but it was an easy fix on the truck.

It may be the type of vapor recovery system used by the station. I would experiment with several other stations and see how theirs work. It could also be that the stations VRS needs maintenance.

I changed oil in HS at a small shop/gas station back in 99-01 and saw so many people set the pump to "auto" then have it shut off on them too early or fly out of the neck and blow gas all over their car etc. that I never used the auto pump feature. I actually think some states dont even allow the pumps to have that little metal clip so they force you to hold it yourself.

this sounds like a silly problem lol
