Shifting Problem?

My girlfiend is a mad mustang fan and im a mad camaro fan and ever since I have been blabbering out kickass info about the camaro to her she has been trying to find problems with the camaro. She told me today that she saw on a car show that the camaro had lots of power but it had very bad shifting???
So i called her dad which loves both camaro and mustang and he said that he also saw the show and that the camaro was lagging shifting. He has never told me anything bad about camaros. But is this true? or made up? Im not sure, i would look up info but that would take a very long time maybe you guys have heard about this "shifting problem" Becuase i haven't. Since the camaro is being tested so often they might have found a bug.

You guys got any info?

I haven't seen anything about a shifting problem posted here, but if I was to change and get the manual, the Hurst short throw would be a must, and most likely the solution if there is a problem.

it probably had to do with the tap shifting on the Auto. i'd still doubt it though
what was the name of the car show?

IIRC the Mustang doesn't even have a manual shift mode, so Chevy's manual mode being a touch slow is still a moot point.

Ok, I didn't even think about the TAPshift. I know a guy at work with an '09 Vette with it and he appears totally satisfied....said he likes how it RPM matches when downshifting like you'd do with a manual, but said nothing about an upshift lag.

I believe if you do a search on this, there were some comments about the shifting being a bit slow (up to a second delay).

But it was later stated by a Camaro design team member, that they had been working the bugs out, and expected the Tapshift to be on par with the Vette.

Note that the footage used for the TV special was very old, I remember hearing some of the comments that were said during the show months ago.

nah its true, there is supposed to be a lag with the auto TAPshift.

but if you've ever driven a tapshift car which isnt a DCT you've felt it. Its not exclusive to the Camaro. You should tell her that at least the camaro gives you the option of auto/shifting.

A tick over 13.0 sec. and you're through the quarter-mile. It's a rush, of course, but not overly dramatic. Try the same thing with this pair's predecessors of 1970 or so and you'll find yourself in a bit of a wrestling match. Ain't progress wonderful? Maybe yes, and maybe sometimes it's fun to wrestle."

Just tell your girlfriend that we will be getting 400+ hp/tq, brembo brakes all around, HID's, tranny and oil coolers, a better lookin' interior - as well as exterior, and a much faster car that is likely to be on par with '03-'04 Cobras - for cheaper. Tell her that or that you are breaking up with her..J/K.
