CAI Inc in Black?

I'm wondering if anyone has the CAI Inc intake in Black. Yes I know it looks cool in the aluminum, but its not the look I'm going for and I'm wanting to get it in black.

Anyone either painted or powder coated theirs and if so can you post some pictures?

thanks

Mine is supposed to get shipped this week (maybe?) but when i get it i'm going to paint it high temp black. The polished is nice, but doesn't match anything else in my bay... I'll let you know how it goes when I get it.

CAI will powder coat it black for you. You just need to call them or you could PM them, they are on this site.

CAI will powder coat it black for $50 bucks more. Was gonna get mine done but decided to keep it chrome. I wasn`t worried about the $$$$$ but my 1969 has chrome in the engine bay so decided the 2010 would too.

Black looks good. The only problem, it doesn’t reflect radiant heat like the high luster ceramic.

CAI Inc....
I suspect there would still be performance gains though, correct? Care to guestimate how much hp/tq gains we can expect from the powder-coated version as compared to the ceramic-coated version?

I agree. It totally rocks! Much better looking than the original ceramic coated version or any other competitor model in my opinion. However, the big question is...how much HP/TQ will we be giving up to go this route vs. the ceramic coated version? If it gains only a couple of HP/TQ less than the ceramic, I'll go for it but if it is not much better than the stock box/tube then I'll have to re-think this...

Its hard to put a number on the loss in power. To many variables. It's more of a heat soak issue. Is the loss going to be huge, probably not but there is a difference.
