First Uh-oh...

Hey guys,

So today I pulled my camaro out of the garage, and noticed two small spots on the garage floor

Front passenger side, mid-hood area, and it looks like oil...

I touched the spot, smelled it, and rubbed it between my fingers (what little I could pick up on my fingers, the spots are 2"x2") and it seems to be oil, but I checked it and it is untouched... the level is fine. It has been 807mi since my last oil change (5800mi total)...

Im going to have it looked at tomorrow, but if anyone has any info or speculation I would appreciate it in advance so as to give the dealer a heads up...

If it's a small leak, you won't notice the level being any different. Look under the car and see if there are any oil stains or drips on the engine. Find where they're coming from.

But the dealer can do that and tell you exactly what's wrong. There are many gaskets and seals on the engine...it could be anything.

poor design. If it is the oil pan gasket, you almost have to pull the motor to replace it. the cross member is not removable which is retarded.

If possible you need to get under car (safely) and see if you can see origin of 'unknown' fluid. No offense, but if you can't identify the type of fluid a trusted mechanic/knowledgeable friend is your only option before dealer. Obviously there are many possibilities-hope yours is a very simple/minor one.

Maybe when you filled it you spilled some? Maybe didn't tighten the cap on the filter?

Took it to the dealer today, and it was power steering fluid! They ordered me a new hose, and temporarily cut and clamped the existing one... The new hose is coming from michigan, so I wont be driving my Camaro on a cut&clamp for 5 days...

oh well, it goes into storage as soon as its fixed anyway!
