Engine swap. Why the hell not?
Why shouldn't I do a engine swap and some upgrades (suspension, reinforced chasis, fuel pumps, wiring harness etc.) when my Camaro's LFX engine is finally no good anymore? Tell me why I can't just put a LS7 or a LS9? Im interested to learn more about the subject.

I don't think anyone in your other thread was saying it is not possible or that you can't. It is just that you would spend more completely rebuilding a V6 camaro base to accommodate the larger engine and all of it's supporting equipment than you would to start with even a stock SS base, pull out the engine (sell it and make some money) then be able to just slide in an engine with little to no other modifications.

It's simple in my opinion..... it's gonna cost you 15k or more to do it and then you're gonna have troubleshooting to do for a time afterward. You can trade up to an SS and buy supercharger and cam and you'll be saving a ton of money. It's certainly your money and time.... but trading up will certainly help you.

Back in the day, this sort of swap was very easy to do. Today, I wouldn't go near it. Take the advice of others here and myself, don't get involved in a V6 to V8 swap on a modern car. You cannot imagine the gremlins you will face along with the insane cost.
If you like your 45th, park it and use it as a pleasure vehicle. Get your hands on a 1SS somewhere and then build that car for pennies on the dollar less than you would on the 45th. |

You can do whatever you want to, its your money and your time. You should get some good life out of your V6, then when it goes tear down the car to the frame and make all the mods you want. If you want to piss a lot of people off on this forum, drop a Ford 5.0 engine in it.

If you are waiting for the LFX to die to do this, you will probably be waiting for a while. By that time who knows what will be available. Hang on to what you have and worry about replacing the motor when the time comes.

Besides, you may actually like the 50th Anniversary better!
Doubt it but only time will tell. Hopefully it doesn't look like the 2014, the 2014 made me very happy I bought my 2013 as late as I did. |

Or you could build that LFX into a twin turbo, do some brakes and suspension work, and go hunt GT500's and ZL1's for fun!

This x100. Gretchen pulled close to 600rwhp before the engine gave out. Just drop a couple of hundreds (or thousands. idk) more to make the engine bulletproof and nothing will touch you. Well except for Darth Emma (and many others).
