One of the other G8 guys went to one of the Top Gear America taping and this is what he said...

Say what you want about Tanner but he's OK by me as long as he bags on mustangs...

I have been a fan of Top Gear for several years now and enjoy the usual comparisons Jeremy, James and Richard have. The show is usually very informative, but the lap times of most of the lap times for the American cars are from a wet track. I saw in a previous show the Aston Martin and Ferrari 595 posted very close times to the Camaro in this video, Jeremy said they were fast. Interesting that a car costing $40,000 and is the common mans car is compared to a near $100,000 Mercedes most people could not afford. I think it is a very big compliment to Chevy and American muscle cars that the show had to double the cost of the car being compared to an American car. Thank you Top Gear for showing us what you think of our fine automobiles.

I am a new member to Camaro5, although, I have been lurking about for quite sometime. My order just went in yesterday for a IOM 2SS/RS 6M!!!

I can't wait...and gas prices be damned! Anyway, I wanted to bring something to the table, being a newbie and all:

This is a video clip from an episode of TopGear from last year. The match up is rediculous, a 2010 SS vs. a Mercedes AMG 63. Anyway, the first half has some great shots of the camaro running around some airstrip in England. I'm sure most have already seen this, but for those who haven't, enjoy!

Great vid I love Top Gear! The AMG 63 is a beast. Both cars looked awesome not a fair comparison to say the least. IOM is one of the best colors

Yeah, it's like in this corner we have Chuu-uck Norris...Norris. And in this corner Chuck Norris on amphetamines with a knife! *Ding-Ding!... Awesome drifting in any case makes me kinda want stripes.

Would be nice to know the weight differences between the cars.

But the Merc was handling a lot better and making more power. Default setup on the Camaro tends to understeer quite a bit til you stick the boot in.

Yep, I saw that episode when it first aired, and it was not a fair comparison to say the least

. The two cars aren't in the same league. However; the price for the AMG Merc was like 2.5 times more expensive, the SS wasn't too shabby considering it didn't have the same hp and all the technology the Merc had.

I love the exhaust note on the SS in that video. Obviously not stock.

Also the Camaro is still faster round their track than both the Shelby GT500 and the Roush. So that still puts us on top of the muscle car wars
