The New 2012 GT-R is OMFG amazing.

We all knew for 2012 Nissan was going to tweak the performance of they're GT-R, but for 2012 they really came out with guns and knives! The new 2012 GT-R for lack of a better word is absolutely,......"amazing". I never really cared for it to much in the past, but it's performance numbers for it's price, at this point seems unbeatable. You get performance in a 80k car that would seriously rival many 6 figure supercars; Ferrari 458, Porsche, ZR1, Lamborghini LP640.

For 2012
GT-R

Redline:, indicated (rpm) 7,000
Rev limiter: 7,100RPM
Horsepower:530 @ 6,400
Torque:448 @ 3,200-6,000
Transmission type: Six-speed auto-double-clutch manual with console shifter and column-mounted paddles with sport/competition modes

Curb weight mfr. claim: (lbs.) 3,829
Curb weight as tested:(lbs.) 3,888
0-60:2.9 seconds. (Veyron territory)
1/4 mile time:11.1 @124

And OMG, let the wolves howl. If I had 40k to put down as a downpayment on this car, I'd DO IT! The modification potential is on your side with this one! Well anyway, it's official, the 2012 GT-R is now faster in a straight line(off the line at least) than the Corvette Z06 and around the track! The Z06 would need more than the 1/4 mile to even catch this thing! The GT-R is also SEVERAL 10ths faster. Wow. Great job Nissan! I have to give it to you this year!

0-60: 2.9/w rollout
1/4: 11.1 @ 124mph!!!

by all means its a very quick car, but it achieves its greatness through allowing the driver to drive it to its full potential where as in the vette you have to have massive cajones and skill to even approach its capabilities.

i would love to be able to just drive one to see what 0-60 in 2.9 seconds feels like

Don't get me wrong, I think the car is awesome and have seen many in person but there are other cars I would buy for that price tag.

The GTR is a beast anyway you slice it. Absolute weapon of a vehicle. I almost pulled the trigger on one before I bought my SS but got caught up with the trans issues the early ones were having. They will always catch allot of flack for the early launch control/transmission issues but, dollar for dollar : IT CAN'T BE BEAT!!
Glad I waited, the 2012 is a monster

Maybe...The perfomance is defintely there...But shoddy reliability and awful aesthetics make it a no-go for me...I'd MUCH rather spend that kind of money on a Z06, or ZR1...

I think that car is gorgeous! It is one of the only "ricer" type cars I would ever want to buy. Fast, gorgeous, smooth... amazing!

Looks are subjective, but some cars just transcend their looks. I hated the BMW E60 design until I drove the V10 M5! Bought it the next day!
The GTR isn't a classically good looking car but it is not ugly.

I followed the C&D long term road test, the everyday maintenence cost of those things is out of this world. I would get one if I had a stable of other cars to turn to when it started acting up and a few extra thousand dollars to fix it...but yeah I aint richie rich so I'll stick to my SS for now and talk sh*t about it in the corner. lol
