19 inch rims, looking for track tires that work.
Hi guys, I have searched the forums a little but have not found a clear answer. I have attempted to run toyo R888 rubber and TSW 19" rims that fit directly on a CTS-V coupe on my ZL1 at the racetrack. The tires are just about exactly 2" shorter than stock front and rear according to the spec sheets. I had to change wheel studs and run spacers on the front to give me more offset. Current Toyo tires are 295/30/19 front and 305/30/19 rear and fit without a problem. These tires and wheels cannot seem to run in any traction control mode without a stability control error and reduced power mode. I would prefer to at least have the option of using some traction control if I let someone else drive the car. To make the traction control work do I need to scrap the 19" rims or will a taller Hoosier R6 in 295/35/19 and 315/35/19 work? Has anyone tried any of these combinations on a ZL1 for the road course? Is there another size of track tire that works with the traction control that I could swap directly?

I noticed the load rating is less on the Hoosiers than the Toyo's but it still covers the axel weight of the car. Others have told me it should be fine... I don't know for sure. I don't remember the exact size of the rims on the car but I for some reason I think they are 9.5" front and 10" rear if that would even be a reasonable fit on this car.

Okay, I spent the entire day at the race track today. Outdoor temperatures started in the 90's and ended up around 106. I had no trouble at all with the traction control and the toyo R888's on 19" rims did pretty well. There were not many cars out today but the Camaro did very well all things considered. I had to run a gear high to keep my rpm's down and that helped control heat issues, at least until I would get a Porsche in my sites and then I would pick it up to run him down and start to over-heat.... I will go to Hoosier R6's eventually but I really need more time in the car before I make some more performance changes. I need more cooling for the supercharger, may roll back the boost a little, may put in a remote reservoir, may go with a Freon based chiller.....

Not a ZL1, but run 19" R888 all around. 305/19 in the front and a 315/19 in the back, never any issues when taking it out on a road course.

I just purchased R888s in size 285/35/20 all the way around. Offset 30mm. I haven't tried them yet to see if the computer goes crazy at the road course. They fit great and the height is very similar to stock.
