I've seen turbos that lasted 200,000 miles and turbos that didn't even make it to 20,000 under normal driving. Give us more data about the kit, turbos, size. For example if the turbos are undersized and the WG is too tight, then you're over running the turbos and will dye soon, even if they are ball bearing. |

I would advise to upgrade everything possible. There's never a bad reason to improve the integrity of your expensive performance parts. Supporting upgrades involving parts close to the source of that extra power should always be encouraged. The alternatives, while not certain, could be much more expensive as they won't be covered under your warranty. Think of this $700 as a warranty on the system's reliability.

As far as the upgrade to the ball bearings, I say DO IT!!! They allow the turbine shaft to spin with less friction than the fluid bearings used in most turbochargers. They also allow a slightly smaller, lighter shaft to be used. This helps the turbocharger accelerate more quickly, further reducing turbo lag. Are you going with Turbonetics? GREAT COMPANY/PRODUCTS! |

Thanks. It's a custom setup, but turbonetics may power it.

Will do....we are still working out the details, but I have spoken to the builder (who plans on making kits to sell), and he wants a build thread to show his skills and maybe sell some kits.
