245/45 on 20x9
Anyone running this on the front?
Tire specs show 9" is the max for 245/45. Wondered what people experience is with it.

if you have a set of 20 x 9's for the front.....run 275/40's, there are a LOT of us doing that and are running a SQUARE Set-up.

I had a set of 45th anniversary wheels that i was going to use, but they turned out to be junk. Bolt pattern was messed up. But we had already bought tires for oe size. So now have FR style 41, 20x9 (4), on the way.
Would like to not buy 2 new tires, again. So checking others experience with this combo.. 245/45/20 on 20x9

I ran those till they wore out. They have a stretched look but handled better I thought, no proof though

I run OEM SS 20x9 wheels at all 4 corners. I was running the OEM 245 tires on front for a long time before I got my new tires. I would say it is livable as an interim solution, but not desirable. Front grip did seem to fade quite a bit pressing into hard corners. Also, the rim is going to be wider than the tire, so you'll be much more susceptible to curbing damage--even with the lightest curb contact.
I was glad to finally get my 285/35's on the front, as there was a large improvement in handling and front end feel. In my opinion, 245 width front tires are undersized for a car of the Camaro's overall weight and front-biased f/r balance. If you like to corner, I'd suggest selling those new 245's and get some wider front tires -- 275/40 if you've already got that size on the back. Yeah, you might lose a little $, but you'll end up with a much better setup for the next 30,000 miles! Cheers, Kent Last edited by Kent2010; 06-18-2014 at 01:33 AM. |

I'm debating on using the front 245's or the rear 275's on my new 8.5" wide fronts... I don't want em stretched, but don't want em bulged either. The rears will have 315/40's on a 10" wheel.

I have 20x9 on the front and 20x10 on the rear. I was thinking of going 275/40 all the way around, what do you guys think?

I run winter tires, 245 all around, In the winter. No problems, just less traction and it looks stretched.
