Obviously there wouldn't be a need to discuss the topic if driver skill was lopsided. I was simply pointing out that with all things being equal it'd be a close race. Well at least a much closer race than a few people here would like to think anyway.

Given the 2005 used a numerically lower rear gear ratio it's gonna lose but it won't be the killing you suggest. The later pre-5.0 GT's were good for mid-high 13's with the 3.73 option which is right on par with a L99.

Light modded L99s are 13.0 cars?

The Camaro bias is justified. though my mods probably only affect my quarter mile by a tenth of a second, I'm feeling pretty solid that I can beat a car with 100 less horsepower and an amateur driver

you will murder that GT, even with his mods and you freshly breaking in the ss before any mods. 05+ was a great improvement over the prior generation.... but still not even close. Have fun and be safe!

With all things being equal it's not going to be even close unless you call a 1/2 second(probably more) close, and I don't. I sold a 08 GT back in 09 to get this car. The difference was night and day. This shouldn't even be a debate.

This only way this would be a driver's race is if the SS was bone stock and the Stang was modded. And even then I'd put my money on the SS. Even the Mustang boys will agree.

You should be disappointed if you win by any less than 10 cars considering the driver's skill level.

An intake, tb, catback car (as discussed in this thread) is running what on average then if my guess is so laughable.

They are definitely high, sometimes mid 12 cars. I know a guy with a L99 who I beat in my old V6 just because hes the worst racer I've ever met. But even his bolt on car ran 12.5 consistently at the track.

Gotcha. Id seen a few signatures here and there with one or two small mods and they were in the 12.9-13.1 range.

If a car equipped like the OPs is going to run 12.5-12.8, its going to take an intake/tune, 4.10/tire, well driven 3V to get to the bad end of his ET range.

2005 GT Mustang should be around 300hp and in the high 13s maybe mid 13s if an excellent driver. The 370 should be a mid to low 13 second car in stock form. So you have the capability to beat both with an SS! Keep it safe and have some fun!

No way you should lose to the GT! Auto vs unexperianced driver equals win for you.
