Convoy To MTI FunFEst

MTI would like for us to at least try and get together and all drive down to the Funfest together..

So anyone interested in heading out from north of the race track post here..

Those of us that are way up north should all leave out the day before and try to stay at the same hotel to help keep an eye on each others rides..

As well, those that are very close to the track can meet those of us from the north the day of the event at a predetermined destination and all of us come in together..so anyone interested please post your name,location, if and where youd like to make reservations for overnight stay..

You guys can convoy back as well, i cant convoy back in my camaro cause its staying for a while, but ill still come in my fiancees car..im expecting to leave the day after the event cause im planning on staying another night to relax after the event.

So like i said for now if youre interested just leave your name and location and if youd like to leave the day before or the day of. that way we can get two different convoys, those that are leaving early, and those that are leaving the day of. that way we can get as many people together as possible..

But either way we should all pick a place to meet up an hour or so before the event and fill the streets with 2010 camaros, and all of us can pull in together. its the least we could do for MTI for throwing such an incredible event for us all. hope to hear from you all.

We will discuss times and locations once we figure out who all is interested and where they are travelling from and make final arrangements a week or so before the event. Hope to hear from you all soon.

I'm in Knoxville TN and was figuring on staying overnight somewhere ( within an hour at most ) away from the track Saturday 10/3/09. Would be nice if we could get a bunch of us together.

well the guys from MTI said that the exit before the track exit is full of hotels..shouldnt be a problem getting one...so you in TN and im north of you so those of us north of you will meet you on the way at a particular exit, well figure all that out two weeks or so before the event..see you then man..keep in touch on this thread so we know youre still wanting to come with us.

Cruzn SS and I were already planning on meeting up on Friday to start the drive down. No time and place yet, but we could meet up with others Friday or Saturday morning after we stop for the night. Just starting to plan out the trip so it is hard to put a time on anything right now. The only thing I know for sure is I can't leave Chesapeake VA untill 8am on Friday.

well i think most of us will be leaving saturday and staying that night before the event. so if you would like to wait until saturday and meet us somewhere south of us that would be awesome..south but close..that way ohio maryland virginia and west virginia can drive a bit then meet in like tennessee..just an example..that way we all still make the same directional path and meet at a point.l.instead of lets say someone from ohio having to meet me and you in virginia or maryland and drive out of our way..we can meet at a focal point where we all can just drive diagonal or some way like that till we run into each other. im going to post another post on the Funfest thread. im wanting for all of us even people from the west thats coming to meet up in talledega about four or five or maybe even ten miles from the track, meet up at a huge parking lot file into line and drive in the enormous convoy down to the track together..id like for us all to meet up about an hour before the event..maybe call the local police in the area to escort us there so we dont have to stop. make it kinda like a parade/ publicity stunt..LOL..well be making news there anyway im sure.. but its not for that. its for us, i think it would be insane to have 100+ 2010 camaro owners driving together in unison through the streets and to the event we all came for..sound good to you guys???

Ive been to the track twice, and there really isnt a local scene.. we would need to drive to birmingham for that or over to atlanta.. You get off the exit and drive about 10 miles.. Its a little in the boonies but awesome track and group of folks who run it. There is a huge new shopping center right off of the interstate that we could meet up in before the event.. you can see it from the highway and it would be pretty sweet to see some 100+ of my buds lined up... I will be leaving that morning early and driving west( I-20 West ).. Its a little over an hour drive for me...

Well for me it will take around 15 hours to make the drive from Chesapeake to Talladega. I am not going to try to make that drive in one day. I will drive 8 to 10 hours on Friday, stop for the night some where arond Columbia SC or Aususta GA. I plan on taking my time on Saturday morning leaving the hotel around 9 or 10am, planing on being at the hotel in Talladega around 3 or 4 pm. I would like to meet up with others be it on Friday or Saturday. Still a little hard to plan this far out anything can change. This is just what I am thinking at this point.

would love to meet up early morning and parade to the track. That would be awesome. It is gonna be a great day in talladega, Alabama. we will be driving in from North Alabama. 2 of my kids and my wife are all looking forward to the days festivities.

im in west virginia man..its only 9 for me..wonder if you could pick another route to make it faster..you should be able to hit the same interstate im hitting in Beckley W.V. that leads down through the little arm of VA. and pretty much heads southwest the entire way..im leaving that Saturday and driving the 9 hours to talladega. but i nkow alot of other people want to make it a two day trip..so i know a big convoy from the north wouldnt be as doable as meeting up at the shopping center..i know if i convoy with others it might not work out as good..cause i really dont plan on doing the speed limit too much and id hate to piss someone off cause i left them

But the one main thing we should be concerned about is meeting at the shopping center..im sure they have a marriot or a hampton or someting like all malls do so i might just stay there..but if you guys can help out well try to get everyone that is coming to the event to meet up at the shopping center and line up and head out from there. ill talk to MTI and see if we can get a police escort through town so we dont get separated by redlights or stop signs..well get tons of publicity anyway for just soo many of us being down there and i know theyll be a ton of people standing on the roads and driving their crappy mustangs around that day trying to start races so id rather have an escort for the morning then after the event we all gang up and kick the crap out of the guys from that morning..LOL..

But if you guys want this huge "parade" to work then youll have to help me out if you dont mind..try to post around this forum about this thread so everyone knows what we are planning.SO Csmurf if you dont mind to try and get some info about the shopping center and PM it to me or just post the name of the shopping center so everyone can Mapquest it or type it into their GPS' that would be great..anyways im calling first car..LMFAO..but if we can pull this off and every single person that is going to attend meet up an hour before hand and all drive down together that would be one hell of a site..my dad has to follow me down in his truck so i can leave my car there with a company so they can mod up my engine. so i can have him park on the side of the road and take pics of the gigantic line of camaros..and ill post them on this forum for you all..pics and videos will be taken damnit..im sure well make the news that night too. especially if we can get someone that lives in that area to call them ahead of time..that way we can find the news clip on the web and get it for ourselves..
