I've had both of the Z's and doing a comparison a waste of time. They both do so many different things so great.

IMO most people that are pissed off about the Z/28 is because they will never be able to have one. So why not talk crap about it.
I've also owned an SS, ZL1 and now Z/28.

I think you may be on to something with that last statement. There are exceptions though.

Why do you think this is a "track only" car? Buy it, swap the tires, sell the Trofeo's, and daily drive the hell out of it. I would not take it to Hennessey, there are other tuners.

I do care about performance and visceral reward and that feeling in my guts when I walk up to the car, the Z/28 turns it up to "11" on those points.

Forget tracking, go find a great twisty scenic road.

*Beautiful to look at
*Wide, elastic powerband
*Rumbly gurgly exhaust
*Solid, smooth shifting
*Tight platform, feels like carved from billet
*Great cruise control

At some point this car will be widely recognized as being one of the all-time "great ones". I still feel like I stole it for $75k. Awesome job Chevy, awesome job.
Congratulations on VIN # 138 Awesome vehicle and so proud to have been on your Z/28 build team

Thanks for supporting GM and Team Camaro & best regards from Canada Enjoy the ride my friend !

It is awesome how anyone who posts anything to say a zl1 is their choice either gets lambasted or their post gets deleted..

I have owned a zl1 and driven the z28.. no way in hell to me would I buy the z28 even at the same price.. and I can buy either.. that does not mean it is not truly awesome car..it is.. but first the ZL1 is highly underrated in the z28 crowd.. Both are awesome cars!!

We have all 3 cars, all are modded, to me there all grate cars, and all have there good and bad, as far as which one is best, i think it will be the next car a gen6 SS, ZL1, Z/28, 1le, LOL.

The SS is a good car, best bang for the buck IMO, the ZL1 has the power but it is to soft a ride to fell the road at the track, its like driving your lounge chair at the track, now you can fix that, but then you have that heat soak that the car can build up on a hot summer day.

The Z/28 is a lot stiffer of a ride, but that is what it was made for, and it does its job well, its does need IMO more power for its wight, but we need to do it with out adding a SC, it needs to stay NA, you add 100+ HP to this car it will out perform almost all cars made today. IMO

The lounge chair comment makes me believe you don't have any or much time in a zl1..

We have 2 of the 3. I could have bought a Z/28, but opted for the drop top ZL1 instead because that was what I wanted from the get-go after the ZL1 was announced as a convertible availability. I like the power, the lounge chair, and the amenities an I think I'm going to be much happier down the road.

I love the Z/28, and I'm happy for the people that bought them. I do know that I bought my choices going in with as much research as I could. I chose for ME. Not for someone else. I love the SS, and I love the ZL1, and if I had a Z/28 I'm sure I'd love that too. But it just wasn't the right fit for me.

My goal was a street bruiser with an open-air feeling, thus the ZL1 'vert was THE choice for me, and I don't regret it one bit.

Enjoy the Z/28, it's a bad ass car!

How has the ZL1 been underrated by the Z/28 crowd? Several of us have owned ZL1's in the past/present.

I've never seen a Z/28 guy bash a ZL1 or any other Gen5 Camaro. If I'm wrong, please provide examples and I'll stand corrected.

Furthermore,

Now, I've seen numerous posts from non-Z/28 owners who claim that other model Gen5's are better cars than the Z/28 in one way or another. Optioned differently doesn't necessarily mean better or worse for that matter. It's all relative to what the potential buyer is looking for in a high performance vehicle.

As stated in my earlier post, I've owned (not just test driven) all three (SS, ZL1, Z/28) and all are great cars that each have strengths and weaknesses. After putting thousands of miles on each model, my personal preference is the Z/28 and as you similarly stated, there ain't no way I'll go back and purchase another ZL1 after owning a Z/28.

The ZL1 is an awesome car but I like the Z/28 much, much better. No justification needed, simply personal preference. I'm sure many ZL1, SS, LT, RS owners, etc. feel the same way about their vehicles. With that said, I try to be cautious about discussing negatives about any other Gen5 model because what's negative to me may be something positive to someone else.

In the end car choices are all subjective to the owners preference by what's important to them and what they look for in a vehicle, but some people take every opportunity to take negative swipes at the Z/28 in one way or another. Unfortunately, this thread is riddled with them.

I saw the same negative swipes toward the ZL1 in that forum from some non-ZL1 guys before the Z/28 appeared on the scene.
