windshield/glass issue
Forgive me if this has already been covered. I got the 0000 steel wool, and the cleaner invisible glass and soaked the wool and the glass and did the cleaning . Got off all the surface stuff and this crud is in the glass. Not too happy right now. Anyone else have this? What to do? thanks

Looks kind of like bad water etching, but there is something else going on there too.
Have you used a glass sealant (rain x or similar) in the past? Or did you have a dealer paint protection product applied? |

OMG auto butler sealant at the dealer, but why only on the outside of the wipers. It's not in the wiper path at all.

Because the wipers removed it, the path where the wipers are not at hasn't had the friction to remove the spots.

Yep... wipers likely removed it.
Try wiping a section with isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) and see if you notice any improvement in the issue. I'm thinking the friction of your wipers wore away the sealant, and it then (mixed with rain water) redeposited itself in a thick concentration outside of the wiper path. Just guessing based on what I see here. Do you have excessive wiper chatter or any issues with the wipers shuttering when you use them? |

That glass is crystal smooth over those spots. You would expect to feel something...I can't even feel it with the fine steel wool. Wipers perfectly soomth. I'll go try the alcohol... can I use de natured alcohol?

Try grand'mas solution. I had some greasy stuff on my windshield and could'nt get rid off it.
So grand'mas solution is to use an onion, yes an onion that you cut into 2 halves. Just pass the onion onto the glass and when it gets dirty cut off a slice and keep on going. It worked for me.

If IPO does not remove the spots, I'd try clay lubed with Adams detail spray.

Worst comes to worst, you could give this glass cleaner a try for us: http://www.glass-restorer.com
I'm also getting a lil picky about the glass and may give this a shot as well. |
