Is this a standard restriction in a 6th Gen Camaro SS Exhaust??

The stock exhaust on what I believed to be a 2018 Camaro SS with a huge restriction right before the rear muffler. Is this on all 6th gen Camaro SS's?

I didn't get the Radiant Red car I wanted built but I was able to get everything on a 2023 Shadow Grey 1SS/1LE. I must admit that I've fallen for the Shadow Grey color too!

It is not a restriction until you start making crazy 4-digit power. The exhaust design is shared between the coupe and the convertible, and the crushed pipe sections are in place to leave room for a structural cross brace on the convertible.

Yes, completely normal, it has been proven to not decrease performance at all on a Stock SS... I believe it is there because on the Convertibles there is a cross brace to stiffen the chassis due to the lack of roof and that room was needed for the cross bracing...

Thanks for the comment and information. I saw that and couldn't believe it! I guess I'll be getting cat- back instead of axle back exhaust!

Just curious, what about the crushed pipes or anyone's reply is making you get a cat back instead of your initial axle back? Are you planning a very high horsepower build?

A catback will only lighten your wallet, it's literally worth nothing.

No but if you have an automatic car there are AFM valves just ahead of the crimp section(towards engine) that are fairly restrictive and worth a little power on higher power stuff. That looks like a M6 X pipe so no real restriction in that.

Yep, it's on all the V8 6th Gen Camaro models and a lot of folks have strong opinions about whether to replace it. My car does not make that much power but I couldn't live with it and bought one of these Hooker products- https://www.phastekperformance.com/H...013126rhkr.htm
Then I ended up getting Borla's X-pipe that gave you 2nd cat delete (no longer available I'm afraid, unless you happen to find one in the member classifieds).
But with that combo and the NPP muffler (always in Track mode-LOL), I am very pleased with the result.
Some guys get irate over wasting the money, but c'mon the whole flippin' car is a toy and that's why I love it so much!
