Steering Wheel Coincidence?

I know it may have been discussed here that the new Mustang's Steering Wheel looks like the '10-'11's wheel.

But I'm noticing a trend where it looks like the steering wheels of different brands are made by the same company. Coincidence?

I know you can only make a steering wheel so many ways but still...

It's likely just a matter of ergonomics. That layout is the best trade off between comfort and space for the ever increasing number of buttons on the steering wheel.

Also the 6th gen Mustang. It was driving me crazy how some reviewers were complaining about it when it was in the Camaro. Now its ok and accepted.

There are only a couple of Steering Wheel Manufactures for the OEM so that may explain the similarities.

I think Key Safety Systems (formerly Breed) are one of the biggest and they are just down the road from us

I thought of that as well but to be THAT close in detail on the button layout and the trim is kinda, "Gee. Originality, please?".

Just heard a session of Autoline Detroit after hours. They mentioned in general that automotive focus groups kinda make the decision of designs across manufactures. So combine "hey this ergonomic works" + focus groups = cars that look very similar e.g., trapezoid grille.
