tradin the z28
Hello guy this is my first time on this site, I hope this is in the right section but I was wanting some opinions on this sorry I wrote a book. I have a 2000 z28 t-top m6 cam tuned and full bolt ons just put a monster stg3 clutch and tick master in 600 miles ago and half striped well I have found a new 2014 1ss 1le I fell in love with well thing is me and my lady have a baby on the way, and she has a hard time riding in the z because the exhaust smell and no ac makes her sick. And I know the baby cant ride in that car so it makes it where we haft to drive dif cars when we go to shows, events weekend cruise ect. the ss we could go tg as a family and no the ss will NOT be a daily family car her car and my truck are for that thing is im very attached to my z it was my 2nd car I have owned it since I was 18 and I put cam bolt ons everything myself and its montery maroon there is not another one like that around here and im afraid I will regret but thing is wife said if I wanted to keep it wait and get me a ss after because I have a good work bonus coming in a few months but having 2 cars wont fit in the garage and sadly the z is slowly going down hill clearcoat, dash, seat ect and by then everything is over I just hate riding separate when we try to do something as a family I just don't want to sell the z for the 1le and say s*** why did I do that. I just want some other opinions thanks guys

Thank God you put a few periods in there or that would have been one hell of a run on sentence.
LOL

Go foward with it. You will not regret it. That 4th gen will be a bad memory once you put a few mods into that 1le. Not to mention the 5th gen is light years ahead in performance and appearance.

Can you sum up the paragraph up a little bit? From what I could understand you want to keep the Z cause you are emotionally attached but want the SS as it is a new car without the headaches of the z28?

Sounds like your z/28 is just a toy anyway. In my opinion, the new gen 5 cars are summer cars. But that depends on where you live. Get a family car that is safe, air and heat.

I'm curious as to why you feel the 5 Gen is not 'safe' unless it is summer

Periods and paragraphs goes quite a way. From what I gathered as well was the 2000 Z28 has sentimental value but is stararting to age, and has no ac.
Op bail out of the 4th gen while it has a hint of value and get yourself a newer 5th gen 2012 and newer. Do some basic bolt ons a tune and be happy. Like mentioned earlier you wont miss the 4th gen after 3 days. |

The 2000 z28 is a somewhat of a show car, trending up in value according to Hagerty valuations. http://www.hagerty.com/valuationtool...eport?vc=48483 A new camaro is not a show car and will depreciate before any chance of appreciating in value. And you might have to park it outside the show. Though this weekend I went to a national Good Guys event and they let any car into the event. Total BS in my opinion. I don't go to a classic car show to see a new Tesla, Corvette or any new car.
Not sure what types of shows you go to, but if they are the local weekday variety than plan on leaving early with the little one or taking two cars. Safety is the key with a little one. So if you need to part with the z28 to afford a more practical car, which includes a new camaro, go for it.

Thanks guys for all the replies, I love my z but its just a toy cant drive it everyday and makes the wife sick and no way the little one could ever go with us on a cruise to the park in it or ect. I figured once I got the fifth gen I would love it, plus I could always get me another 4th gen later on and build it all out or just restore it to have my memories back I just have a hard time with it especially since I aint seen another that color around here

Sadly, 4th gens aren't really going to escalate in value when they are long gone. The distant memory of prying yourself up under the windshield to change plugs will be forgotten for good. Sell the 4th gen while you still can get some coin for it.

@ratfinkharley. that's what I was meaning too no one gets it most of the time and theres a couple shows that we go to that's outta states kinda our weekend get away, I guess u could say. But we have a weekend once a month cruise here that everyone meets up and we go to dif places threw the state last time we went 3 pit stops beside the road for her to say goodbye to her food from the heat and exhaust smells. just the kid inside me fighting to keep it and not part with it

Lol, you wont look back trust me. I had a 92 z28 built to the gills by me that I kept when I bought my 2010 SS. Even worse the new car had to sit outside because my 92 had no clear coat left and wouldve been toasted in no time. I kept that 92 for almost 2 more years barely driving it except for some fun blasts here and there. Every time I got out I smelled like premium fuel. In 2012 the zl1 came out and I sold that z28 to beef up my down on the zl1 and traded the ss in too. Whenever I see one now I look to see if it was mine but other than that shes just a memory
