Parallel Parking

I just bought my Camaro a couple weeks a go and men I cant even park the thing straight. Im afraid to attempt parallel parking. Any tips? I haven't tinted my windows yet to avoid reducing visibility until im confident with the car's dimensions. I used to drive a scion tc btw.

It will take some getting used to, but you'll get the hang of it. Our cars make it hard to see curbs on a good day, so even in a perfect world their still a PITA

Lining it up takes a lil while to get used to... I have 30,000 km on my car since July and its still pleasing when I step out of the car and its parked straight. I should have it down pat by now.

Parallel parking would certainly be easier if you tilt the mirror down. just sayin.

Helpful hints...

Do not parallel park. Instead find some spot wayy in the back. Be sure to take up 3 or 4 spaces. And do not forget the hazard cones around your ride.

Most importantly, stay away from ANY store parking lot. In particular, walmart.

Seriously though. I have yet to 8have the courage to even try to parallel park.

I live in a very tight city, I know the difficulty of parking all too well. I am not afraid to admit that I usually have a spotter to help me. If I am alone I will adjust my mirrors to see the passenger side better. I will also get out and look around a few times. I don't think there is anyone here who has had to park in a smaller place than I have! Good luck, be slow, check out the corners and don't worry about what others say about being too careful.

Practice, practice, practice. Once you get it down it's not difficult.

Three of my wheels are curb rashed to hell from trying to park on streets. One of the cities I live near has basically 90 degree angled curbs, so if you even bump it... scrrrrrratch. Don't do it if you can avoid it.

I try not to do it whenever possible but if I have to I try to find a place where there are two or more space open and pull in and line it up that way. Hell, I still have issues with backing into a space in a parking lot, though I have gotten better.

I actually find it easier to back the Camaro in straight than I do pull forward straight. My car will only fit up my driveway and into my garage in reverse (weird angles), so I've gotten used to it I guess. I also back into the same space every day at work, next to a support wall in the parking garage, as close to the wall as I can get... usually about an inch of clearance on the passenger mirror.

Pracitce, you get used to it.
And tilt the curb side mirror down to see the curb in relation to the side of the car, it helps.
