Brief Relationship Rant and Question for the Guys...
For a little backstory-- I was with this guy for five years. He liked to cheat on me on the internet (I'll give you more lurid details if you want them; I'm not talking porn here) and he hated my friends and family, talked crap to them/about them all the time, and just totally killed my self-esteem, so I got out of it and I'm a happy girl for the most part.
But tell me why, guys, it's necessary to contact your ex to tell them you're going to a concert with another girl but there is nothing to it and it's just friends? WTF? Why put me through all that hell, and then when I dump you, keep trying to sniff around saying you'll change (when you've said it 50 times before and you NEVER do)? Of course it's my fault partially for humoring him and not changing my cell number but really... Why does he BOTHER? Is it the challenge factor or am I just missing something?

Boys are stupid and we hold grudges. (stereotyping here btw). He told you about the concert and the other girl ONLY because he knew it would push your buttons. Some guys are just dicks like that unfortunately.

I will add that he asked me to go to the concert with him first. I dumped him 9 months ago. Since then he flew an ex girlfriend down here from Michigan to sleep with her, then sent her back up there and has barely spoken to her since.
 God, I get such winners

Agree with all the above, he is just a douche bag.
Sounds to me like he is now missing what he once had. Probrably enjoyed the 1st couple of months of being single, but now he is missing the hell out of you. He will never admit it, cause you know us guys have our pride and all! Move on, find ya a dude that is willing to show you the respect you deserve. Believe it or not there are a few left out there!
