I just got a quote yesterday from a dealer that would give me $25k for my 2010 1SS with 8k miles. I purchased it for 32k. I'm thinking of upgrading to the ZL1.

I bought my 2LS for $21k new, tax aside, I wouldn't be surprised if I could get more than that on a trade-in right now.

you're most likely correct. i looked up the NADA Black Book value for your car in NJ and the average trade in value is $22,395.

Wow you got raped. Did you put no money down or something? No offense but this was a really bad financial decision, you are spending 11g's in finance fees, your interest rate must be at least 10% or more.

As for the topic at hand, this car is still hot, so for now its gonna have good resale, don't expect it to last. Couple more years (or when the 6th gen is released) and the value will tank hard. Also Carmax is a bad gauge of values. That car will never sell for that price.

I was quite pleased to get $24,300 "trade in" for my 2010 2LT RS. I worked my new deal on the 2012 2SS first, going from an MSRP of $39,880 down to $37,350. Then we haggled over my trade in. Original offer was $22,180, we finally agreed on the $24,300. Mine was very low mileage (6,300), garage kept and in excellent condition.

I was curious to see what Id get on a trade in, sadly it was 23k with BRAND NEW tires. I told the guy to forget it. I expected no less than 26500 on my car. and I wouldnt take a $ less than that IF I traded it now. But that dealership was stupid to begin with.

Only 23k for a 2SS in ABM? That's CRAZY!

crunching the numbers on that, i'd say you made a great deal. you paid less than invoice for the new one and got a very reasonable trade in offer.

I've tried to trade in my G35 for a Camaro and other cars here and again. The nada trade in on my car is just about $20k, but I never even get close to that number. Here's the bs I usually get...most of the time it sounds like the teacher in Charlie Brown as it spills out of their mouth, but over the years I've figured out what they are saying. "Well, those numbers from nada and kbb are just estimations of the price. We use our own system which is based on the price your car is going for at the auction and this is all we can give you." Here's what it means..."We are going to screw you as hard as we can, with the biggest smile on our face that we can make." I usually get offered $4-5k less!! Cars at auctions are rentals, demos, leased...basically junk cars that have been beat the piss out of. All dealerships exist to make money, not to make us feel good about how we spend our hard earned money. I've bought and sold almost all of my cars privately from honest people and will probably continue to do so.

I got a little help from a pop up "private offer" of $1,000 from chevrolet.com web site.
